Recipient was able to use the giftcard in the end, so it "does what it says on the box".
However many hoops had to be jumped through just to use this "Ultimate" Giftcard" value in-store.
First the receiver is directed to a "differently named MyPrepaidCenter" website from the email, where you can look at the card value and details. However if you want to use it you need to create an account, so you can sign in to the website on your phone and view the card. Next when you click to add the giftcard to your "Apple wallet" the link redirects you to a "differently named App called Blackhawk Network" which you need to download and install on your phone. Then when tapping on the "Add" button in the app, it warns you that it is creating a "Virtual Visa Credit account" to be able to be added to your phone wallet.
So in the end it took around 20 mins, the creating of 2 accounts potentially using your personal details just to be able to use the giftcard in-store (user was told in-store that they needed to "Tap and pay" with the phone wallet app to use the giftcard in-store).
If I had known it was such a complicated process I probably would not have chosen this digital giftcard.
