Product description

It seems as if King Olly – who claims to be the ruler of the Origami Kingdom – has hatched a devious plot in unleashing his plan to fold the entire world. It looks pretty dangerous on paper, so someone who’s a cut above the rest is needed to save the day. In Paper Mario: The Origami King Mario faces one of his most thrilling challenges yet. Just when matters couldn’t get worse, King Olly has bound Princess Peach’s Castle in giant, coloured streamers and transported it to a distant mountain. He’s even transformed Bowser’s minions into Folded Soldiers and enlisted them in his treacherous cause. Luckily, Mario is equipped with a range of new tools at his disposal to help secure victory. A new ability called 1000-Fold Arms allows players to interact with the landscape by stretching out and pulling, peeling and revealing new locations, helping you solve puzzles and uncover unexpected surprises. Along the way, players will enlist the help of allies old and new, such as King Olly’s very own good-natured sister, Olivia, along with a range of unlikely allies. Even Bowser himself hasn’t yet folded to the whims of King Olly’s origami will, and Mario will accept all the help he can find with open arms.

I loved this game all the way through playing. The dialogue was funny and well thought out and the collectables were very satisfying to nab. The battle system was, questionable but it grew on me. The bosses were actually somewhat of a threat which is surprising for a Mario game. The story was abit silly and outlandish but hey, its a Mario game, when does the story have to make sense. If you don't like circles or paper cuts, this game isn't for you. Now that the wimps have left, if you like Paper Mario and minimal RPG elements, this game is for you!!

The battle system is divisive, but I enjoyed it. The puzzle aspect adds a new aspect to almost every battle.

I say almost every battle because this game introduces real time battles to the series. No transitions, no arena, no battle items. Just you and your hammer. There's even a real time boss battle which is easily the best of the whole game.

What everyone can agree on is the charm is still there, the visuals and the soundtrack are amazing.

You will not regret giving this game a go.

The game is more addictive than I expected, the launch reviews and gameplay videos did not get me interested. Grabbed it on sale and popped the cart in to get the Nintendo points and gave it a test run, I haven't changed the cart yet. It's actually a bright colourful fun game. You can buyunlock upgrades that make the puzzles easier or leave them off for greater challenge.

Like the story, the world and the characters but the battle system has me avoiding all enemies.

Watch a video of how the battling works before you buy this because it broke me despite everything else being so good.

Original game with Mario and his gang. The mini-games does take some time to get used to but challenging enough to stimulate the brain.

Paper Mario Origami King is a thrilling adventure back to the Mushroom Kingdom which picks up where Thousand Year Door and Colour Splash left off. Highlights this time are the chapters & settings with sandy dry bones deserts, countryside of Japan with flying goombas & cheep cheeps, wild white water rapids with whirlpools & underground mines full of moles. New this time is also the spot the Toad & origami folding system, which is every bit as fun as painting in Colour Splash. Where Origami King improves on the series are the boss battles which are Splatoon like epic. Set aside a lot of afternoons with Origami King
