Loss brings love...

Everything in life is not permanent but it was perfect. Catalina Pardo had a career in journalism most people could only dream of, a hot, sexy fiancé to call her own and a brilliant future ahead of her. When tragedy struck, the life she once knew fell apart. Four years later, traumatized by the events that ultimately changed her existence, Catalina sets herself on a punishing work schedule, preventing herself from facing the demons of her grief-stricken past. Emotionally shut down, she's alive but not living because everyone she ever loved leaves her.

Fate intervenes in Catalina's life in the form of a last minute assignment to a snowy mountain lodge in Whistler, B.C. Sent there to cover the life of the infamous Jackson Reese; an Olympic Snowboarding Champion, she is faced with many challenges bringing to surface the raw emotions of her past. Compelled to work alongside Stryder Martynus, an award winning photographer brought in to document the Reese press tour, tensions and denial run high forcing Catalina to accept the past and face the present with zero regrets.

Wow wow wow and another shot of wow!!

This is a beautiful story and one that will stay with you.

Descriptive words to describe this novel would be - stunning, fabulous, emotional, flawless and amazing! 100% worth it.

I truly can't believe this is a debut book by the author! *standing ovation for Ms Santiago*

Whenever I read a book I always find if that book makes me have feelings or think then it's an awesome book!
Well with this one I felt it on every level and I also had so many questions in my head that I couldn't keep up with them all.

I feel very blessed to have been lucky enough to receive an arc of this book.
I literally didn't put this down from the moment I started reading and I actually read it in just over 24 hours, if it hadn't been for the things in life like needing sleep and seeing to small children then I would have read through.

This book gripped me that much and had me on such an emotional roller coaster I really didn't want to put it down. I wanted to continue reading through each new chapter that I came to because even though the ride may have been emotional it was a wonderful one.

Meet Catalina (Cat) - a woman that's had so much heartache and personal loss throughout her life, that to just survive she builds these walls around not just herself, her heart too. After enduring yet another tragedy that robs her of her planned future, she recoils into herself and outwardly hides behind her image and her job as a journalist. Cat basically exists and doesn't allow herself to actually live. That is until she gets sent on a new job assignment and encounters the gorgeous Stryder Martynus.

I would give this story more than 5* if it were possible. I loved it from page one, the writing is beautiful, descriptive and mesmerising. The characters are so likeable they felt like friends by the end, as if I knew them so well. I laughed, smiled, cried and even shouted at my kindle once, I was that involved in it. I found it so hard to put down.

The story is of Catolina - Cat, a reporter who has suffered more than her fair share of tragedy, so she lives life day to day without joy. She is sent on an assignment she really does not want to do, but once there things start to change in her life when she meets Stryder and Jackson and they will never go back to the way they were.

Stryder is a world class sports photographer and best friends of Jackson, he has been hurt in love and has no interest in being hurt again. He meets Cat and he finds himself hoping that maybe things could be different.

Jackson - Jax, is a world class pro snow board champion. He lives life on the edge, has plenty of issues of his own but when he meets Cat he feels a bond of friendship which is undeniable. Could she be the person to heal him and give him strength?

I love all three of them, they are wonderful characters and their story will entice you in and keep you there. This is a beautiful love story of two people finding there way forward again and of a new friendship for Stryder best friend Jax, which will save him.

It is an epic story and I cannot wait for book two. It is a definite MUST READ!!

I really enjoyed this book by Imy Santiago and it's hard to believe that it's a debut novel! I found it to be very well written and I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple points of view. I really liked that the main characters are in their early-mid 30's so they certainly had more maturity and depth to them and I was so glad that they didn't jump straight into bed at the first (or second opportunity) because that would have absolutely taken away from the story. I have to say, some character reactions were over the top and dramatic to the point that I was taken out of the story momentarily. Overall it was a great read and I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in this series. I recommend it and give 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read 8 January 2015
By Catarina - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Imy Santiago has written a beautiful book which really contains two stories that intwine with each other, the first being about Jackson Reese An Olympic Snow boarder and the second being about Catalina Prado the journalist who has to interview him.

Jackson's story get really interesting and he finally concurs problems he has with Catalina's help and a deep friendship and bond is formed.

Catalina has had a hard time for the last for years and fears of loosening those she loved has stopped her from moving in on and forming a new relationship, that is until she meet Stryder Martynus who is a photographer she has to partner with, when she is assigned to interview Jackson. Stryder, is also Jacksons long time friend and he is his personnel photographer.

This is a true love story, a story of second chance love, a story of healing and the realisation that fate can play apart you your life, in what is meant to be. Jackson help the two lover and the bond of friendship that forms between the three of them is just as wonderful as the love story.

When I first started this book I never imagined these bonds forming but towards the end you feel for all three of these leading characters, each have been hurt in the past and each are trying to move forward and become better people. All three need each other for support and encouragement.

I loved the story line and can't wait to read the second book when's it is released, Finding Reese. I commend Imy Santiago for her imagination. The chemistry between Stryder and Catalina is magic and you know they are meant to be together. The events that bring these two together is called fate.

I gave this book 5 stars and wait patiently for book 2 so I can continue on this journey, and hope that all ends well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great debut. 6 January 2015

I can honestly say that I did not know what to expect when I started this book, but if I did have any expectations they were all completely blown away by the time I had finished.

I won't go into a revamp of the plot. I'm sure other reviewers will and I don't think it's necessary.

The characters were well rounded and beautifully written. I fell in love with all of them. I adored Catalina's sassy swearing self, her insecurities and her inner goodness. My heart broke for her and I was rooting for her from the beginning. I especially liked that she wasn't model perfect and had the same insecurities we all have about our bodies. I instantly connected with her.

Jackson was brilliant. The brash joker with no cares in the world it would seem but underneath just as vulnerable and afraid as the rest of us. I loved him and wanted to give him a huge hug.

I adored Stryder. He was warm and caring and a true gentleman but also had his own skeletons to deal with.

I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish and was sorry it ended. The writing was very good. It flowed with an almost musical quality that I loved.

This is a story of love and loss, trust and friendship but above all hope. Basically it's a story about life and I loved every minute of it. I cannot believe that this is a debut novel. Imy Santiago has a real talent and I really look forward to reading more of her books. This is why I am always willing to try new or unheard of authors. Every now and then a true gem comes along and this is one of them.

I would definitely recommend this book to all. An easy 5 stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing journey 7 January 2015
By Lisa - Published on Amazon.com

Sometimes people come into our lives at just the right moment and make a huge difference in our lives. This is certainly the case for Catalina, Stryder and Jackson. Each of them are battling their own demons but together they can find their way back to the light through love and friendship.

Catalina is a sports journalist sent to cover Jackson Reese, a champion snowboarder. When she keeps being thrown into Stryder's path, it seems that fate is sending her a nudge. Stryder is an award winning photographer and is paired up with Catalina to cover Jackson Reese but he is also Jackson's best friend. Fate is speaking loud and clear.

Catalina's story is one of true sadness, having loved and lost. She is struggling to rebuild her life and live again. When Stryder comes across her path, he brings with him the possibility of living fully again. Stryder has loved and lost in a different way and coped in a different way. With Catalina he sees a future and his gentleness and caring nature, along with his ability to read Catalina and ease her fears, are a winning combination.

Throw in a best friend in need of healing and a lot of support, and a friendship with Catalina offers him that. Together they can help heal each other. In Catalina he sees himself.

This is a beautifully written story of love and friendship set against a wintry backdrop. This is a story that had me crying and laughing in equal measure. The sadness that comes from all three characters is strong but together they can offer each other a way to heal. A really emotional an heart warming story. I am ready for the next instalment already!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read! 7 January 2015
By Amazeballs Book Addicts - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
OMG, I loved this story. When I started reading it, it starts with an emotional scene that had me little teary eyed. We start with Catalina's POV, then we get Stryder's POV. At first I was little confused because Stryder wasn't Reese and I was confused on how the three would all play into together. This story does not have a love triangle.

Reese is a professional snowboarder and is doing some damage control with the media. Catalina is a sport writer because of tragedy she doesn't do well in the snow. After the team who was suppose cover Reese press conference have to back out, Catalina gets called into cover it. Stryder is a photographer and he goes to cover the conference. He is also good friends with Reese.

Catalina and Stryder hit it off pretty quickly but at the time either one knows that they are going to be working together. They have this perfectly awkward moment when they find out.

Catalina has had some pretty rough stuff happen to her, she has come out on the other side a little shattered. She hates the snow but with a little help from Reese and Stryder that might change. Stryder has gone through some tough times too. I loved Reese is a great friend to both Catalina and Stryder. He is a carefree and fun loving guy. He is the balance that Catalina need in her life.

I started the story going OMG and I ended it going OMG. The ending is a crazy cliffhanger. I hope everything turns out ok for all of the characters. I can't wait to read the next one finding Reese.

5.0 out of 5 stars I want my own Stryder. 8 January 2015
By Kim - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I just finished reading this book about a strong (and curvy) woman who has lost a lot in her life time and instead of crumbling into a ball of self-pity, she throws herself into her work. Now Catalina finds herself surrounded by snow and dreading every second of it. You see, Catalina is a sports journalist but she has one condition, no snow sports. Catalina doesn’t want to be reminded of how she lost her fiancé. But circumstances are working against her and she ends up working when she should be on vacation. What happens to her while she is on this assignment is destiny and it was just lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had to keep reading, even though I was going through my own little hell, at the time I started reading this book and I had to stop. Once I got back to it, It helped me escape my own worries and stress, instead I laughed and cried and oh my!! Some of the scenes between Catalina and Stryder…. Oh My… Imy has written a story about real people, flawed people and I loved that. This book is well written, the storyline keeps your attention and I absolutely loved it!!! Way to go Imy!! Looking forward to reading your next book. I am leaving an absolute 5 out of 5 Stars for this one.
