Privacy Settings

View, hear, and delete your voice recordings
You have control over all of your voice recordings in the Alexa app or at Alexa Privacy Settings. You can filter your voice history by device. You can also delete your voice recordings one by one, all at once, or by enabling auto-delete at any time.

Manage skill permissions
When you use a third-party skill, we will exchange related information with that third party so they can respond to your request—for instance, your answers when you play a trivia skill. We don’t share any personally identifiable information without your agreement. For example, a restaurant booking skill might ask for your e-mail address to send you confirmation of your reservation, and we would only share that information with your permission. You can see and manage the skills that have requested permission to access data.

Manage smart home devices history
Alexa receives information about the status and use of your smart home devices, like the state of your connected switches (on/off) and thermostats (set temperature). You can delete your smart home device status history any time.

Control how you help improve Alexa
Alexa is designed to get smarter every day. Training Alexa with recordings from a diverse range of customers helps ensure Alexa works well for everyone. An extremely small fraction of voice recordings are manually reviewed to improve Amazon services and develop new features. If you would like to control how you help improve Alexa, visit Alexa Privacy Settings or the Alexa app (Settings > Alexa Privacy > Manage How Your Data Improves Alexa). If you turn this setting off, voice recognition and new features may not work well for you.
