Yes, you can. Just connect it to a separate power supply instead of the USB in the TV.

The led strip has a fixed length. There are 4 strips that you can connect on the back of your TV. It won't cover the whole length of your TV, but the result will be the same.

Based on the connections from both products, I would say yes. Just disconnect the existing controller and plug the smart one.
