I asked Alexa and she said " You need to go to the Alexa site & enable the apple skill. So I guess the answer is yes. I don't have apple music but I have spotify and it works.

Nope. Just plug it into a regular electric outlet and connect to the WiFi via the app and you're good to go. Easiest device I've ever set up
