Yes, you can, but only having registered in an existing account first. You can then deregister it as explained by this link:

Hi ya, I am not positive; but I do believe with a Amazon signup you receive free Prime video for a period and is only $6-7 after that.

However, now that I say that!! I believe you could run it without a membership as when you plug in Prime Video is just 1 of heaps of apps to download. So perhaps the firestick is… see more

However, now that I say that!! I believe you could run it without a membership as when you plug in Prime Video is just 1 of heaps of apps to download. So perhaps the firestick is the library and then from there you just sign into Netflix, Stan, Prime etc with your regular signin.

I do really like it ! Unfortunately in Australia I have too many devices that favour only a few platforms so I have to switch from Foxtel, Optus Fetch Box , my Sony Blu-ray wifi and this stick. Therefore a have one tv with THE LOT and a second tv room with limited access. But know the Firestick can just be easily removed and changed over to other tele so they can watch Stan and Netflix and Prime.

You need an Amazon account to use the Fire TV Stick, but you don't need a Prime subscription. :) It has many tv apps ECT you can download and use such as Netflix ( subscription needed) but tubi TV which has a variety of tv shows and movies for free
