3.0 out of 5 stars Actual game is cool but the app wants a lot of your money. 9 May 2014

When you first open the game it wants you to sign into "Swarm", I have no idea what that is. When you finally get to pick your table something is very noticeable. You really only have the option of choosing 1 table because all the other ones cost money! It's hard to give this game a review because on one hand the actual game is pretty cool but on the other hand everything costs extra money and it wants you to sign into all these different social sites.

Why I like this game:
-Just like a pinball machine in the arcade. I used to go to the arcades a lot as a child and this game reminds me of the actual pinball machines that were in there. Most pinball video games aren't realistic and are too cartooony but this one feels more real.
-Takes actual skill. Just like in the arcade you need to actually aim the ball with the flippers. You need to "collect" letters, go up certain chutes, hit certain droids etc. It plays like an actual pinball machine.
-Added Star Wars' "special effects". After all this is a video game so of course some things are going to be added. The coolest thing is the lightsaber chute where the ball is shot out of the lightsaber. Also is you collect the right letters Vader will appear... that's always fun.
-The scoreboard is the one you see on the pinball machines in the arcade. It's that black and orange old school scoreboard, you know the one I'm talking about.

Why I don't like this game:
-Sometimes it's super slow at going to the next screen when adding your points up.
-If you want more tables or extra things it will cost you... REAL money!
-It wants you to sign into various social sites.

EDITED 10/11/14
Granted it took them from when I reviewed this back in May (I think) until now but their reminder made me go back and check. There have been a couple of updates to the HDX since this game and whatever issues those covered (or any updates that the game has had since), it appears to have "fixed" the problem. It is now running fine and is great fun to play. Great if you love pinball (me), but also cool to have if you love Star Wars (me) so now it is a win-win situation.

So although it took them a while to get back to me, if it wasn't for the response to this review, it'd still be sitting in the cloud gathering dust and now I'm getting to play.

Thanks to the dev for responding to this so I was able to remember to check it out and see that it's working good now.

Original review

But I can't even get the game to play. It seemed to install ok but every time I hit the play button it just opens the options menu.

Bummer cuz it looks and sounds great. If they ever get it to work right then I'll probably jump up to at least a 3 possibly a 4 or 5 because I love pinball games.

2.0 out of 5 stars eh 5 May 2014

I'll give most anything star wars a chance. When I saw this for free instead of $1.99, I jumped at it. On the plus side it's a good pinball game and does a nice job with the sw story. But on the con side, ONE TABLE ... are you kidding? I can't imagine there would be that much variation in pinball to warrant a buck per table, and especially not if someone had already paid two bucks for the app itself. My advice is to get it free while it lasts.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled. Only includes a single table 4 December 2015

You get this game and think, wow, there are 10 different tables included in this game!

You pay the $2 or whatever and on the Pinball collection screen, everything is disabled with a "$" sign required to buy it. Zen Studios should be ashamed of themselves. I used soon to expire points so it cost me nothing and I'm still ticked off about it. When you buy something, you shouldn't open it up and have 1 out of 10 items available.

Spend your money or points on something else.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Update 15 January 2016

Dosnt work now since last update. I paid for all the tables and now it won't open. Please fix or give me my money back. I don't understand why you do automatic updates for a game I paid for and then screw it up it makes no sense. This is why people don't like to buy games for their phones. Zen pinball dosnt work now either. Thanks.
