I got a wonderful holiday vibe from this story. The setting was very 'Dickens-esque' and the writing was beautiful and quirky - much like the main character, Aigee - who has a crush on his literary nemesis - the man-pretty blond, Kit. The insertion of real literary characters of the time - author William Makepeace Thackeray, illustrator Richard Doyle, with mentions of Dickens and others made 'Yuletide Truce' a real treat! As a short story, it could have done without one sex scene. Still, the character development and the overall feel-good vibe made up for the over-abundance of steamy m/m sexcapades, which was actually rather endearing...coming from me, a straight, middle-aged woman. lol
I found this to be a fun, lovely book. There was the type of historical detail you don't often see in historical romance. Both of these characters were charming separately and as a couple. Short and sweet and I would definitely read more about these two.
