Product Description

She’s no stranger to love and loss…

By age eighteen, Alexa Kingsley had lost everyone. Only Joey, the lonely boy next door, remained. He’d clung to Alexa like a lifeline through years of abuse at the hands of his father, and she vowed to protect him as best she could. Alexa thought Joey was the one person who’d always be there—until the day he left her as well. Finally forced to go it alone, Alexa finds this latest loss may hurt worst of all.

He’s no stranger to lack of love…

Joseph O’Connor was every bit the villain his father trained him to be, his young heart twisted into something ugly, corrupted. But his father underestimated the girl next door, miscalculated the impact Lexi would have on Joey’s life, the spark she ignited that eventually, despite all odds, grew to an inferno of hope. To reclaim her, Joey must first become a man Lexi can be proud of…the kind of man she deserves.

Amidst a shadowy world of guns and drugs, will Joey’s ultimate sacrifice—a declaration of love from a man who was never shown any at all—be enough to finally set him free?

OMG!!! As I started this one I asked myself if it would be as good as the frist two, I don't even know why...

At You Loved Me At My Weakest we left Joey and Lexi going their own ways and desperately wanting to know what will happen with them.

Well we find Lexi with Nick trying to have a redo of her life, some way she learns there is the possibility of Joey being dead. So she decides to go after the truth and maybe being once and for all with the man of her life.

Having rid himself of Marco, Joey sets to get rid of Michael, his uncle, his cousins though are tied bound by a secret their father has and they make him wait, making his plans for getting his love once and for all interrupted once more.

There is a lot of conflict and turnmoil in this mafia world enough to set them apart. Will Joey see the error of his decision making process when it comes with his relationship with Lexi, making it impossible to be with her again. Will Lexi make Joseph see the good man he is and help give him that which he craves the most and has never has...a family?

This is a story that will rip at your heart as all others written by Evie Harper, it is amazing and all the events are very well put in chronological order as they connect with the first two books. Love the update we get on all other characters and I am very excited for the new stories that will come out of some characters of this series.

Evie Harper delivers angst in a way that makes you crave, desire, and yearn for the agony that will run continuously throughout your body from beginning to end!

Alexa knows two things very well and that's love and loss. All her life she has experienced both in the most beautifully aching ways. Losing her parents and brother in a car accident caused by a drunk driver, she moves in with her aunt Ash. Next door the little boy's wretched screams break her heart and she can't stop herself from following those noises that takes her to Joseph. Lexi befriends Joey which leads to a passionate love affair that no man, no amount of blood being shed, or ruthless acts could destroy. No one or nothing, but her Joey when he walks away from her leaving her heartbroken.

Forced to push his mother away and take care of himself at an early age, Joseph is manipulated and abused. He finds comfort in the young girl next door. She offered everything freely Joey's father had forbidden in their home. Lexi became his reason for living, but even after his father's death he couldn't find peace. He wants to become a better man, for Alexa and will eliminate anyone who threatens their future. Walking away to do just that becomes the only way for Joey, even if it means breaking the woman who has always given him love.

Alexa is fiercely loyal in every way, shape, and form. Joseph is possessive, an alpha through and through. Together these two are more than two lovers, they are family. This is a story about the lengths that people will go to for the people they love. Both characters take dangerous risks, putting not only their hearts but their lives on the line. They show us that though love can sometimes be tainted by the ugliness and harsh reality of the world, it can also be saved and will come out more beautiful than ever.

From the first moment, Joey was mentioned in YLMAMD I wanted to know more about the son of Marco O'Connor. In YLMAMW I was intrigued by the relationship between him and Alexa. Their connection was sparks blazing from an open fire and I was engrossed in them, in their love, and their future.

This was the last book in the You Loved Me Series and what an ending it was! Evie Harper brings Lexi and Joseph 's story full circle as well as Jake and Lily's and, Kayne and Emily's. YES, there is happily ever after's after the after's in their books! Not only does she put our hearts back together after a series that has caused me bloodshot eyes, but she sets up her secondary characters perfectly.

This entire series has completely taken over my life the last three days, captivating me completely. You Loved Me At My Ugliest is a heart and soul clenching novel wrapped up in an ugly world where men fight for power. This is a series with characters flawlessly written by an author that I will never let go!

This story caused me to feel various emotions as I navigated its pages. The earlier chapters were difficult to read but, when the main characters became adults and I didn't have to witness the child abuse anymore, nor hear Joey's screams, I was able to relax and get caught up in the story.

I enjoyed how rich the characters of Joey and Lexi were - how their childhoods drew them together, despite totally different home environments. The author told a compelling story of how child abuse affects more than the child being abused, how the ensuing emotions by various individuals can shape their lives in enormous ways and how a simple gesture such as holding another's hand can make a world of difference in any life.

I will definitely be reading the earlier books in this trilogy so I can get the complete story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Why All The Series....One Book would have done!!! 13 January 2016

Very good read but I personally felt the entire series ran a bit overboard in finding true love. I had a lot of problems with this series of books and unfortunately it's to many to mention in a review. Like is the series suppose to be about abduction of women or a select group of men and women finding true LOVE. I mean this whole series was a sick/crazy in a way but it sort of grew on you. My problem with reviews is I don't like telling any of the book so I'm definitely the wrong person for that but it's clear the other had no idea which way she wanted to take this series. She tried taking it in two different ways and wrapping it up neatly with a bow but to me she didn't succeed. THANKS

You Loved me at my Ugliest is book 3 of the You Loved Me Series by Evie Harper and it’s the conclusion. Well sort of. No, it is...except according to Evie, characters from the You Loved Me Series will be meeting up with characters from her other series (Portland Street Kings). I love a good crossover! :) Ugliest is Joseph and Alexa’s story. Each one of the books in the You Loved Me Series tied into a storyline created from book 1 but each book had it’s own twists, turns and drama. Evie does a great job of bringing new life within each book! (Once again: please be careful going forward in this review as it is the conclusion book of a series and the review may contain spoilers from earlier books!)

Joseph O’Conner. What do I say about this serious man of few words? His character and story found a special place in my heart. Of the three books I believe he was the male character who drew out the most emotion in me. He’s lived a tough life, always. He grew up in an evil house where he was raised to be cold and calculated, taught that women are yours to serve you and power is everything. As a reader, your heart breaks to hear his story and to see him fighting his demons within.

When pain is all you’ve ever known, how do you accept you’re worthy of a life with good in it?

However despite his father’s evil intentions for him, Joseph found light in a sweet and caring neighbor girl who would remain tied to his life in a big way. Alexa Kingsley has done things she never imagined she would do at the hands of an evil man. She has regrets. But above all, she loves Joey. She’s a tough, spitfire, who can break a man’s hand if need be. Her light might be the very thing that saved Joey growing up and helped to not turn him into the man his father hoped he would be. However, Joey comes from a long line of evil men and Alexa’s light may not be enough anymore and the darkness may swallow them both up. They have been fighting outside forces for so long that they don’t really know how to stop.

"Our passion bound us together, but our love is why I will sin for this man, why I will always be by his side."

This couple has history and passion. They grew up together. Joey tries his hardest to protect Alexa every day of his life and Alexa follows him into the darkness. Until she can’t anymore, until she’s done fighting. She just wants a life with Joey and to stop fighting the evil. But can a couple with so much history and passion really stay away from one another?

"Joey stops unexpectedly and looks me straight in the eyes. Expelling a heavy breath, he speaks in a thick voice, “I missed your voice, your humor, your feisty comeback and these” -Joey runs his thumb over my mouth- “lips, your perfect, soft mouth that drives me crazy, but most of all, I missed your smell.” Joey lowers his head to my neck and inhales deeply. “The smell of home.”"

In Ugliest we also get some new supporting characters. As these are cousins to Joey you can imagine they carry some demons of their own. We see men raised to be evil fighting to be worthy. Lines are blurred and things aren't exactly black and white in their world. They may not be torturing and killing innocent people but none of these men have their hands clean of blood. It’s what gives the You Loved Me Series a little edge. It’s not the fairytale story of happily ever after. It’s people surrounded by darkness fighting to create their happily ever afters.

"...because their childhoods...has damaged their view of the world. Darkness needs an equal light to blast its way through."

I am extremely glad I found Evie Harper and the You Loved Me Series. Now that I have completed them I can definitely say it’s one you should be marking on your TBR lists and I will be following along with whatever Evie comes up with next. I’m now eagerly awaiting more from the Portland Street King Series to go live as it is another series to love by her. Happy reading everyone! <3

2.0 out of 5 stars Tedious... 28 December 2015

The first book in this series was excellent and the second book was very good, but this one was a struggle to get through. The situations were contrived and the actions and reactions of the characters to those situations was unrealistic. There were a could of paragraphs that were repeated like the author copied and pasted it twice. There were some misspellings and additional words in the sentence like she headed in one direction but chose to change what she wanted to say but didn't delete all the words from the previous sentence. This book is a big disappointment and not necessarily a must red to tie up the series. This is the last book that I'll read by this author unless I find something offered by her that is free.
