Product Description

The second standalone book in CJ Duggan's HEART OF THE CITY series - a very sassy, super sexy New Adult romance from the internationally bestselling author of the SUMMER and PARADISE series.

Sarah Williams is a spirited, independent Aussie who has always dreamed of New York City. So when a job opportunity arises to become an au pair for a successful businessman in the heart of Manhattan, Sarah jumps at the chance to follow her dream.

What she didn't bet on was a beautiful newborn and a distant, abrasive man whose eyes hold a million anguished secrets. Determined to care for his daughter and face the challenges of the impossible Ben Worthington, Sarah was always prepared to follow her heart; she just wasn't prepared to lose it to a complicated man like Ben.

CJ Duggan’s book are an automatic one-click for me. I’ve read them all so far and again this book did not disappoint. I’d call this book a light hearted sweet romance with a bit of mystery.
This book centres around an Australian girl called Sarah Williams, who takes a leap of faith and leaves Australia to work in New York as an au par. She gets a job with the rich and very secretive Worthington Family. Enter Ben Worthington, he’s a hot sexy moody Architect from New York and it’s his daughter that Sarah is employed to look after. There are secrets and mystery in this book, one’s I certainly did not see about to happen. Twists and turns happen that you won’t see happening . Can sweet Sarah melt ice man Ben? There is a sexual tension between these two but will they act on it or not??? This is a fantastic book that I literally read in one day…. I cannot wait for the last book in this series where we get to visit London….

This is the second book in the Heart of The City series but completely standalone.

New York Nights is a light, sweet romance with a lot of heart.

I love that Sarah has taken the leap to leave Australia to live and work in New York. I adore her gumption in going for it, talking life by the short and curlies and actually living.

Ben - oh Ben. He is quite a prickly one, but then when you meet the rest of his family, it is not hard to understand why he is like he is. And as the story progressed he did thaw out a bit.

I LOVED that Sarah had the balls to stand up to Ben and his -mostly- horrible family. She wasn't afraid to ask the questions, tell them how it is, throw some punches, call them on their BS - and there is plenty of it!

I adored the relationship Sarah has with Ben's daughter Grace, and loved seeing Ben with her. This little bub really is quite the scene stealer.

The fact that Ben and Sarah didn't become the clich`d "dad boning the babysitter" story was a plus too!

New York Nights is sweet and charming, and has given me a whole new list of places to visit when I hit New York later in the year!

Now I am impatiently waiting for London Bound.

“New York Nights” by C.J Duggan has been rated 5 stars!!
This book is amazing!!! Hands down my latest, favourite New Adult read written by Australian Author CJ Duggan. Without spoilers: the book centres on Sarah Williams, a young independent Aussie who goes to New York to be an au pair for successful businessman Ben Worthington’s baby daughter. Sarah is very relatable, she’s fun, quick witted and challenging but she still has her heart in the right place with a good sense of morals and responsibilities. Ben is a misunderstood character who I can’t say too much about or I’ll spoil the book. But I will say I found myself getting very attached to these characters and eagerly anticipating the next scene they appear in together as their chemistry is amazing. The plot of the book at first seems simplistic (not so rich girl meets hot, brooding, rich guy) but then Duggan creates a world of secrets tightly guarded by the Upper-class Worthington family. Nothing is as it seems in this family as secrets begin to be revealed with a massive plot twist towards the end which left me shocked and cheering. One of the highlights of Duggan’s writing is the way she describes Sarah’s NYC surroundings. Not just the heart of the city but also the surrounding suburbs. Duggan isn’t afraid to name drop as she describes various New York City landmarks either. Another one of Duggan’s charms is the aussie, light hearted sense of humour that fills the dialogue. You can’t help but to laugh at some of the things her character Sarah is saying. Final opinion: If you love a light and fluffy book that engages you from the first page: READ THIS BOOK. If you have no sense of humour and an intolerance for happy stories: hand it to a girlfriend who needs a laugh. After reading this book, I hope we get to meet these characters again. Maybe next time in Sydney?

This light heartfelt romance follows au pair Sarah Williams as she leaves her family and friends behind in Australia to go and work in The Big Apple for moody (but sexy) architect Ben Worthington. Dealing with the Worthingtons is not easy, Sarah is told not to ask questions. That's easier said than done! She has to deal with Ben's stuck up mum, Penny, and sister, Emily, along with all the Worthington secrets. So many secrets, hence she seems to be jumping to a lot of conclusions, not necessarily correct ones either. All is not always as it seems. Told from Sarah's POV we watch her fall in love with a beautiful baby girl Grace, and her complex, yet loving father. Her only friends are Ben's estranged brother Alistair and his pregnant sister Nikki. Can she navigate the minefield that is Ben Worthington and still keep her heart intact? Another winner from CJ Duggan.
I was provided with an advanced copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love finding new authors and this year has already opened my eyes to a plethora of new-to-me authors that leave me wanting more. And so it is with CJ Duggan’s latest book, New York Nights. The second book in her City Lights series centres around a young independent Aussie, Sarah Williams, who takes the bold step of moving to the bright lights of New York to become au pair for a wealthy Manhattan businessman, Ben Worthington, and his daughter, Grace. As Sarah soon discovers, Ben is not the doting father she expects. Distant and moody, Ben seems more interested in his career than spending any time with Grace. Of course there is more to his story than meets the eye and Sarah is just the person to melt this mans heart.

I do love our Aussie spirit of rolling up your sleeves and getting on with it, no matter how challenging the job is. Even with the standoffish personalities of Ben and some of his family members, Sarah forged ahead, wanting only the best for Grace, she was completely dedicated to her charge. Caring and compassionate, she blended charming naivete with a fearless sense of adventure, and a great sense of humour. Never one to let a challenge get the better of her, I loved her dogged determination when dealing with a few hiccups along the way, and her will to always put the needs of Grace first. As the skeletons begin to emerge from the Worthington family closet, Sarah’s big-hearted and understanding nature comes to the fore, as she helps Ben navigate some pretty heavy emotional baggage and life-changing family secrets.

Ben was the product of a very wealthy family, prone to aloofness, broodiness and arrogance. In the beginning, he came across as uncertain and seemingly lacking confidence when it came to rearing his beautiful young daughter.
