Loved the weaving into the story of the genius of Hedy Lamarr. Great characters, fast action, original concepts and always the unexpected. Looking forward to 'Fear to Recall'.
This story has chapters told by many different viewpoints, giving you an insight into the thoughts and actions of both the good, and not so good, characters.
The tech speak was a bit above my head, but everything was explained in such detail that you can still get a picture of what it all means.
I also liked that, as an Australian myself, this book set in Australia wasn't full of the typical stereotypes that a lot of books set here are.
This was a twisty story, filled with scheming and tension, and I totally enjoyed the ride! I hope to read more from this author in the future.

The author gives the characters depth, and a back story which really helps getting to know them, however this does not been that they are predictable far from it. There is a balance of male and females, with the female characters being integral to the storyline rather than the damsels in distress. That does not mean that there is not a cheeky bit of romance, and of course a description of a hunky man is never not welcome!
The plot line and the development of the story is original and makes exciting reading.
I have read lots of thrillers set in America, Britain and the Netherlands but never one set in Australia before, however I would read another.
The political aspect to the plot line is interesting and develops well over the course of the novel.
I really enjoyed this book, I read it quickly and at no point did I feel it dragged. I am converted to Australian spy thrillers and would certainly read more from this author. So for those of you who are looking for spies, guns, plot twists, political intrigue, and just a spot of romance, I wholeheartedly recommend.
Without giving the full story line away I tell you it's set-in post COVID19 times in Australia. Again, I thoughts stumbling point for me not being Australian I know nothing about their life of culture. But it did not matter life and politics is the same everywhere. Also, this is when 5G starts if it hasn't already and we don't know about it lol
The book is about MARC1 the box. This an invention which uses 5g and radio waves however what happened next and the effects from MARC1 was what no one was expecting.
As it set in post Covid19 there are parts that are medical as well as 5g this would have taken the author a great deal of time to look into these things and make sure he was doing his book justice. Cause any wrong medical point would have just been a disappointment and spoilt the book.
For me personality I would certainly give this author another go, for 2 reasons you can tell he did his homework before writing the book and the fact that although the book is fiction you just never know. We are living in an ever changing world, well maybe not to degree of this book but somewhere in that direction.
There is political intrigue aplenty, spies at every turn, murder and mayhem, but at the base of it there is a steady thread of warm humour and a cast of characters you are rooting for. I had many laugh out loud moments. Some of the more intricate descriptions of the workings and use of the radio waves I found myself struggling with, but was fascinated to learn that Hedy Lamarr (after whom the original microchip in the story is named) was an iconic actress but also an inventor and an early player in our now popular Bluetooth! Fascinating! The author has clearly done masses of research to make the story interesting and believable. I found I enjoyed it very much.
It is a very pleasant read, with several sarcastic comments, several moments of comedy, but also moments of great tension, with characters that change throughout history, because, to quote, “we are not born with the feeling of hatred”. A very current story, in a post-covid scenario and using 5G, with a wonderful touch of science fiction. What more can we ask for? Only the next book, which I have already bothered to check, is already being written!
