Reading this book made me realise how ridiculously confined we maintain our thinking as a routine. Maybe it is a self-defence mechanism in this complex world of ours. Whatever the reason, while reading Xcelerate I realised how ridiculously easy it is to innovate when shown the way. Broadfoot’s approach is simple. He steps the reader through a series of concepts that allows one to see a small but incredibly important shift in either what we understand is our key asset and/or what we do with it. Simple, Asset and Activity.
Once he shows you the way, Broadfoot spends much of the rest of the book trying to get you off your backside to move on it. A truth of life, a good idea is only that until you act on it. In my case the simplicity of the innovation ideas I came up with is what got me moving.
