The reason why I am giving 4 stars rather than 5 is that the amount of markup. How the f*** a USD$20 dollar camera cost AUD$69? That's more than double the price and I am not convinced that shipping cost is the major factor here. Maritime shipping cost less than you think especially for a product that take so little space and weight so little.
If you can wait for 1 or 2 weeks to be delivered from Amazon US, order from there and save some dollars.
Price is up there comparatively to the US. Australia tax? Otherwise would be 5 stars.
It's cheap. The quality is great, comparable to my $200 Swann. The audio could be better. But overall, I love it. Would and have, buy again.
They work awesome and are clearer than my friends cameras.
the 15 sec cloud upload is not bad Being free however note it has a five min cool down for each camera. The person detection is useful however motion can be quite noisy albeit better than nothing.
I have mine pointed outside through windows
They come with a magnetic base so it’s easy to find spots for them. If you do this you can also rotate the image if they are upside down , but you’ll have to turn off the Infrared or it’ll reflect off the window . Some people put IR lights outside to work around this or motion sensor solar lights.
You can also daisy chain them so you can get by with one USB port
There’s also an option to flash them with firmware that supports RTSP but you will lose person detection
This is offset by the fact you can record locally to your own server for 24x7 recording and using the feature of your surveillance system - I use blue iris.
Additionally you can add SD cards to each device to record to that as well
Great all round entry camera and worth it just for basic surveillance
They aren’t weather proof

Added pictures of camera looking through window. One in cloudy day time and another one using night vision with IR led turned off. Note that I am using a separate stand alone IR led lamps outside so this is why the vision is still pretty clear.
UPDATE February 2019.
Good support provided by Wyze for these cameras and those puppies are still going strong despite the fact that both of my cams are being used to look through windows one inside the house the other one outside in my unheated shed.
Also, you can now turn on night vision while turning off the IR led which is very useful for a cam looking through a window. I can see clearly now...as long as I have enough ambient outside light. Which I do, most of the time. All of the below evaluation still valid.
UPDATE May 7, 2018.
I have seen very little updates/enhancements for the Ezviz mini o cam while Wyze Labs is constantly improving their software. Ezviz added motion detection area does not work as of this date. Also, I own 2 Ezviz mini o and only one got the latest firmware update.
The WyzeCam is still suffering from the short 12 seconds motion detection clip every 5 minutes which is the biggest drawback imo. It makes the cam unreliable as a security solution. Also, you can not bypass the cloud recording. If you turn it off and use only the micro sd card, you do not get any motion notifications. Even if cloud storage is free, I wish there was an option to turn off cloud recording and still receive notifications when motion is detected using the mSD card. It's impossible as of this date to record motion clips or pictures to neither a cloud service such as google drive, an ftp server, nas drive, or Windows share. The cam also lack a web interface for either viewing the live stream or changing settings.
The V1 cam records at only 10 fps which can make fast or close moving objects very choppy. The V2 version is somewhat better recording at 15 fps (please note that V1 is not sold anymore and what you will get as of this date is version 2).
However, they did improve the motion detection feature. You can now define a rectangular zone for the motion detection area. Also, both motion/sound detection sensitivity were changed from a Low/Medium/High setting to a 0 (low) - 100 (High) slider which much improves false alerts. You can also use the WyzeCam with the popular Android TinyCam software while I have yet to make the Ezviz work with it.
There were lots of connection issues that have now been fixed.
You can use the cam through a window by turning off the led lights to avoid reflection. However, this also turn off the night mode (black and white) which makes the view extremely dark unless you have good outdoor lights where you aim the cam.
Wyze also has a user forum (Wyzecam.com) where you can get help from other users should you run into problems with your cam(s).
WARNING: upgrading the cam firmware to v 220.127.116.11 could brick your cam. Do it at your own risk. Update May 2018: Wyze now has a procedure where you can fix your firmware cam should it get corrupted. See Wyzecam site.
If I compare the WyzeCam to the Ezviz mini (about the same specs but Ezviz is a little more expensive), I much prefer the Ezviz mainly because of better software and motion detection algorithm.
The picture quality and wide angle are better on the Wyzecam.
Ezviz will record at least 1 minute of footage (sure on sd card if you do not take the non free cloud server option) when motion is detected and there is about no gap between motion detection triggers. WyzeCam records to the cloud a 12 seconds footage, which is much to short, then is 5 minutes without capturing any other motion. This is totally useless as a security option. At least if you had the option of recording the motion notification trigger footage to the sd card, that would be a better option (if longer clips without gap are allowed).
The WyzeCam has only 3 motion sensitivity settings, high, medium and low. Way too many false alarms on medium and high (especially if you place the camera in front of a window to monitor outside) and almost none on the low setting. Ezviz has motion sensitivity settings that range from 0 to 6.
However, the WyzeCam allows you to share (export) the motion detection footage video to virtually any apps installed on your device (such as Google photo) which is much better than Ezviz Youtube and facebook only options. But again, you can only export the 12 seconds footage.
Both cams allow continuous or on motion event recording to the sd card. Wyze will even record sound, smoke and CO alarm events. It is not clear whether sensitivity will affect the recordings of the motion recordings.
Maybe Wyze will improve there software motion detection algorithm, but as it stands as of feb 24, 2018, I much prefer the Ezviz mini as a cam security option, mainly because of the longer, no gap, motion detection recordings and better sensitivity level. None of those two cams will email a picture of the triggered event, which would be a real bonus imo.
Hope this review was helpful.
The camera itself is really very very very small. I was very surprised at how small she is. The design is pretty enough, so it does not spoil the view. The sound has a decay of about 3-4 seconds with the video, but in reality, it is not a very big problem. As for the camera, she is great. The picture is actually in 1080p when you choose HD mode. As you can see in the picture, the visibility is perfect (the quality is deteriorating here, it's normal). The night mode is very very very well done. For a camera too expensive, she is great ... It's Wow. We can see very well. However, as soon as there is a little light, she has difficulty. (See the image in black and gray is the night vision) Let's talk about the microphone now. The feature of speaking is ... how to say ... to see again! We can talk, but a disastrous echo is made when we finish talking. It's as if the sound of the microphone and the phone interferes with each other. It's disgusting on that side. On the other hand, we hear quite well, but nothing more. One feature that I like is the microphone. Why? Simply because I like to scare my dogs. Yes I know, I am demonic. A small problem with this camera is the "Sensitivity of detection". Arkk ... I have to put it at 100 so that it does not send me 5 notifications per 10 minutes. But otherwise, disable it, it is useless internally. I also like the fact that we are 14 days of free cloud. It's really nice of them. You can also add a 32GB micro SD card (Recommended at 32 and under, because the camera is designed for the 32GB, but no more). When recording in SD (low quality (720p)), the micro SD will record for 7 consecutive days. In HD, the micro SD will record for 2 days in a row. Be aware that the camera is designed to crush old pictures depending on the mode or record you.
- Excellent value (really kind)
- Fast delivery (Via Intelcom in Quebec)
- Excellent customer service
- Well done application
- You can not see the camera on a computer (except using Android Emulator)
- The thread is quite short, so have to buy a longer one
- The microphone is missing sometimes
Overall rating: 4.8 / 5
This camera is perfect for those who have a baby or who want to watch their animals during the day and even talk to them (whatever they are going to be more afraid of than anything else). The infrared vision is excellent and the price-quality is perfect. I recommend it

Bon.
- Excellent qualité-prix (Genre vraiment)
- Livraison rapide (Via Intelcom au Québec)
- Excellent service à la clientèle
- Application bien faite
- On ne peut pas voir la caméra sur un ordinateur (sauf à l'aide de Émulateur Android)
- Le fil est assez court, donc obligé d'en acheter un plus long
- Le micro fait défaut parfois
Note générale: 4.8/5
What I like:
Picture quality is very good and setup was easy. Priced very well too!
Each camera comes with a metal plate and some sticky tape which allows you to put this on any flat surface. This is nice since the camera has a magnet on the bottom of the stand.
Updates come out regularly to fix bugs. Hope that continues for many years to come!
The two way audio quality is actually pretty good! Talking to someone is kind of a pain though. Speaking of that...
What I don't like:
To have your voice protrude through a camera, you have to open the camera on the app and press and hold the mic icon. To hear the other person though, you have to unmute the camera. Seems sensible so far right? Well every time you tap that mic icon, the camera mutes itself again. Kinda pointless to advertise two way audio if the person on the app has to constantly unmute the camera in order to hear the person on the camera trying to talk to them. Not sure why it wont stick to the setting I choose.
The recorded alerts are too short. For instance, I have a camera setup in my garage to start recording after it detects sound or motion. Whenever the garage door is opening, I get alerted and the camera starts recording. However, the recording lasts just long enough to see the garage door open and nothing else as recordings are between 9-12 seconds long. There appears to be a cooldown between each alert too. I say this because I don't get another alert in the time it takes me to park the car, close the garage door, get out of the car, and walk across the camera to get into my home. Having a microSD to continuously record everything would circumvent this, but having the ability to have recorded alerts be 30 seconds could avoid this whole issue.
You can now setup times as to when the camera will send you alerts, but unfortunately these options are just limited to time of day and do not include day of the week. So if you were hoping to set it up to alert you Monday through Friday between the times of 7am and 4pm, you couldn't. This will always alert you every day of the week between your specified times.
This is a small complaint, but the app saves an image of the thumbnail for each camera directly on my phone. I'd prefer the thumbnails to stay on the app itself and not saved in its own folder in my pictures. This also goes for my avatar picture on the app.
This is a fantastic security camera for the money. Most of my problems are software related and (hopefully) will be fixed soon. I look forward to updating my review after they get some more options added and address some of the issues that I mentioned above.
Both of my cameras frequently disconnect and require power cycles in order to get them to work. They may work for a few hours or a day if I am lucky. Also alarm notifications are not coming up until I open the app making the alerts almost worthless. I'll wait again for an update, but I'm kinda losing hope here.
They pushed out an update to help fix the frequent disconnects that I was experiencing, but now only one camera seems to work consistently at a time. (This is in regards to live streaming) What happens is I always seem to have one camera fail at random while the other one continues to work fine. As soon as I power cycle the camera that isn't working, the other one goes down in about a day and I cannot connect to it anymore. If I power cycle that one, then other one goes down. This has been going on since my last update and I now only power cycle them if Wyze pushes out an update as it gets old having to power cycle them every other day. I still get notifications on the one that happens to be down, so it's just the live streaming that doesn't work.
Speaking of notifications, if you are on an Android device and are not receiving notifications from the app, try disabling any battery optimization settings (i.e. Doze) that are interacting with the app. Disabling that should make the notifications come up again. My phone recently updated to have the Doze feature in Android 8.0 and disabling those settings seems to have made those work again.
I'm not prepared to spend money on Nest or other expensive camera, not did I want to pay a monthly fee of any kind. This WyzeCam is the perfect simple, no-frills solution for someone like me.
I like the motion-detection feature. Anytime it detects motion I get a notification. I haven't installed an SD card yet, but in spite of that, it still records and saves 12-second clips when it detects motion which is pretty cool I think. (I do plan on getting an SD card for continuous recording, however.)
Dislike, really intermittent in working. Although the recent software updates seem good, the use of the microSD card is really flaky. There's a 8 Gig card in the camera and it's reporting that there's no card. I can't connect to the camera all the time and sometimes there are updates to the user agreements which seem rather suspicious at times.
Setup out of the box wasn’t hard, but getting the first camera to see the QR code thing was frustrating as I had to move the screen back and forth, twist and tilt, until it finally “saw” it. The second camera however will not recognize the QR code scan no matter what I try, and is useless as it won’t connect.
These are indoor only cameras, don’t try to use these at night with the night mode on auto or on (through a window), all you’ll see is 4 lights on the video. If there is a glass anything the camera won’t show anything at night (Poor infrared detection). As far as the second camera, I contacted support through email (as recommended) and no reply has been received two days later.
The camera that does work is ok at best, picture is there, but you would t be able to pick out anyone in a lineup. These will only record your theft, so you can see it happen. I have tried to zoom in to see faces and unless you know who’s in the picture you’ll never find them.
The sound quality is terrible also, voice through the speaker sounds like your under water and if you listen through it all you hear is weird noise and muffled background noises, you get what you pay for these are $20 cameras in the US and bit more in Canada.
The mobile alerts and motion detection are annoying after a day, and either too sensitive, or not enough (you have a slider thing to adjust in the app but it’s way too sensitive between settings). The noise alert is the same, very sensitive or not enough.
Overall, my rating and experience, these are a gadget but nothing to brag about. If you want them for security or image quality your in the wrong place. They would perhaps make a good nanny camera to watch you kid sleep of the dog at home, but of course they aren’t advertised as such.
--Incredibly easy setup. You just install the app on your phone, plug the camera in, push a button on the bottom, and then point the camera at a QR code the displays on your phone. Then you are prompted to enter the password for your wifi, and that's it. It literally takes 1 minute to set up, with no messing around with firewalls, routers, ports, etc. There are voice prompts, played from the speaker on the camera, that guide you through the process. It's an absolute breeze.
--Image quality is very good. It looks to me like 720p HD video. On my network it streams in full motion at a nice high frame rate. There's none of the jerky low frame rate video that I get from some of my other cameras. Color reproduction is quite good.
--The camera includes both a microphone and a speaker, so you can listen in on the location of the camera, and/or speak through the camera. Speaker quality is what you would expect from a speaker that is less than an inch in diameter. But it works! The microphone is FAR better than the microphone on any of the Foscam/Wansview cameras that I've used in the past. On those you would have to be shouting in order to be heard. The Wyze camera picks up even faint sounds in the room.
--I LOVE the magnetic base! You can stick this thing to any ferrous metal surface, and it stays stuck. At the moment mine is hanging from the bottom of an air duct pipe in my basement. Just go into the app on the phone, tell it to invert the image, and you are all set! It really is slick, and is something that more camera manufacturers should do.
--The motiion detection is simple and reliable. It can be tuned from highly sensitive (triggerrs when my cat walks across the basement floor) to low sensitivity (my wife would have to walk in front of it). Upon triggering, a ~10 second video is captured and uploaded to the cloud. An optional push notification is sent to your phone. And you can go into the app and watch the recording.
--Night vision mode is decent, but not outstanding. There is a single IR LED for low light illumination. They state a night vision range of "up to 30 feet". That's pushing it. But 15-20 feet seems to be no problem at all. It certainly covers a room with no problem.
--The price. How can you beat a $20 camera that simply exceeds every expectation that I had? After reading about this camera online, and reading some reviews, I decided to order one on the spur of the moment just to test it out. Yeah, at this price point you really have no reason NOT to buy one as an impulse purchase. I received mine in 2 days. But the day after ordering, they went on 1-2 month back order. Apparently they are as popular as they deserve to be. Despite the backorder, I'll be placing an order for a couple more before the end of the day.
--None that are really noteable.
--The app doesn't always update the list of recorded motion detection video clips. If you close the app, and reopen it, they show up in the list. But that's software, and will undoubtedly be updated in the very near future. --UPDATE-- This was fixed quickly. The software continues to evolve and is very solid at this point (1/2019).
--Unlike many of the other cameras in the house, this one doesn't support pan/tilt. But for the price, who cares? The Wyze has a nice wide field of view. They are stackable. So if you spend $60 you can stack three of them and have a full 360 degree view for less then the price of one camera that does pan/tilt. And the Wyze will have better image quality
--No idea what its environmental tolerances are. I know that it's not weatherproof. But if I put one in my unheated garage, in upstate NY, is it going to survive the cold? Who knows? But heck, for $20 it might be worth just trying it to see what happens!
My wife was skeptical when I told her that I'd ordered a $20 high def camera as a candidate to replace some of the other cameras that we have in the house. But 20 minutes after plugging it in, configuring it, and playing with it, she said "WE NEED MORE OF THESE!!!"
So, in summary, I just can't recommend this camera highly enough. I know my web cams. I've worked with, and owned, a lot of them over the years. I'm an experienced IT professional who is constantly tinkering with new technology. I'm not a casual user. And this is now my favorite web-enabled camera. Ignore the low price. It has NO correlation to the quality of the product. Just buy one.
--UPDATE-- 1/2019 -- I have replaced all of my interior webcams with Wyze, and have had zero problems. These things continue to be a fantastic deal.
