Awwww!!! That is the sound my heart is still making after reading Wulf by Ava Ross. Wulf is the next instalment in the Mail Order Brides of Crackair series, and it is yet another great fun, sweet, sexy, action-packed read.

Taylor is a librarian who has dreamed of being adventurous like her favourite book character. She is NOT the librarian stereotype of shy or quiet, in fact her mouth will not stop working, which leads to many humorous moments with communication problems between her and Wulf. Wulf is a Vikar warrior and an orphan who has felt like a loner ever since his parents died. Their story is so sweet and builds beautifully with a shared understanding based on self-esteem issues. It also includes yet another great meet-cute written by Ava. If your heart doesn’t melt for Wulf when reading his POV there is something wrong with you; I just wanted to give him a big giant hug!

Ava is developing a ‘signature style’ with this series; each book has feisty females, hunky aliens, loads of weird alien creatures and nonstop action. I love how you can be fanning yourself due to the ‘sexy times’ one second and laughing out loud the next – usually due to language differences. If you have enjoyed any of the other books in the series, you will love this one too. If you haven’t read about Crackairian’s before, you are missing out.

Taylor can talk the hind legs off a donkey!! And she does... all thru the book. Luckily Wulf is more enamoured by her than I was. He is ecstatic to meet his mate-to-be and despite the strange creatures that want to kill them he still finds ways and means to court her even though he can't follow tradition exactly. I loved how Wulf was so careful and protective of her and I loved the extra appendage.

I haven’t read the other books in this series but this one truly stands alone; no background knowledge required. I really enjoyed the well described challenges of language and cultural difference that had to be surmounted by the characters.

The story was fast paced and enjoyable and I really enjoyed the the quirks of the characters, especially the rambling of the female lead.

The story was dual POV, well written and edited, and fun to read.

Good story, if only the female would stop talking! I wanted to tell her to shut up so many times that I had to skip some paragraphs. I'm glad it was a free book, wouldn't pay for this one, sorry.

Okay, for me this was the worse book by far. I didn’t like Taylor at all. She had the worse personality and she just disappointed me a lot in this book. This review will be kept short because to be honest if I write a long review it will just be bashing the book and that’s not how I do things unless the book was beyond terrible which it wasn’t. I will list a couple of major cons and just leave it at that. I don’t like comparisons, she would actively compare Wulf to her ex Ben while being intimate. She would actively compare Wulf to Ben while he would compliment her. She ran her mouth way too much, never listened to reason and couldn’t read a room. Also there were some amazing what the hell moments in the book. Like the leader of all the warriors parking his ship and within minutes a whole family of spidaires (I can’t even describe these things) nest around his ship?? Didn’t he cloak the damn thing? Or I would assume he would? I mean why land in a clearing on a hostile planet where your ship could be seen? Also, how in the hell did these monsters breach a spacecraft to nest inside? Why didn’t he have a gun? He armed himself up yet it only consisted of a sword and a small dagger? 😫🤷🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ then the gauntlet of beasts attack them all at once. It was like a free for all. 10 different species at once. Somehow she’s able to sprint in a dress and high heels..... fast forward, a visit from a friend. I won’t say who but it’s a friend of Mila’s but she doesn’t tell Wulf until sometime later... she would rather flirt and make small talk about a hippo.... you’d think the latter contact with a sentient being would be crucial but nahhhhhh. They were supposed to be at their oasis for a couple days but turned out to be several... lol so long they were tracked and surrounded... then bring in the unbelievable amount of wildlife yet again to attack them. All species converge upon them as they run upon the backs of giant beasts dodging laser fire from space ships and a wild smaller carnivorous beasts give chase YET even bigger more docile beasts that’s supposed to be protecting their young don’t chase off said carnivores 🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤣... the matebond which was seen as sacred was more of an afterthought in this book. Although it was different for each couple it was gained in a unique fashion. Theirs? Well lol anticlimactic. All I will say. I give this one 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Taylor is a mail order bride matched to Wulf. She is one of the women that gets kidnapped by another alien race to be sold as a "breeder." Her abductors space ship crash lands on another planet, Wulf finds her and saves her but they run into some issues along the way. Wulf is one of my favorite characters-- he lost his entire family and wants so much for someone to love and love him back. He is afraid of being left alone again.

Taylor--- at first she really gets on my nerves with the constant nervous talking and jabbering, along with her self esteem issues, even after Wulf explains his situation with him losing his entire family, its all about her. As the story goes on Wulf is happy with her and it is a HEA for him.

I have enjoyed this series and look forward to each new couple. Taylor and Wulf were matched but ran into issues when Taylor was kidnapped en-route to Crakair. Wulf was right there to rescue his mate-to-be but they ran into all sorts of problems first. Taylor really started to get on my nerves with her self esteem issues but she was the perfect mate for Wulf. The two of them together was hilarious, Wulf, the strong, silent type and Taylor talking non-stop from sun up to sun down. I really enjoyed the book.

Why Make Women So Silly?

Wulf is book 5 of the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair and was by far the only disappointment of the series so far. Taylor was such a silly, jabbering about the most inane things that quite honestly it became annoying. In the most dangerous situations she was jabbering on and on with earth phrases and about earthlings that were a total mystery to Wulf. It was so easy to skip entire pages once Taylor started jabbering and not be at a lost to continue the story. This book seemed to not really have a solid base.

As much as I’ve enjoyed Ms Ross stories this one had no redeeming qualities. It is quite annoying to have an intelligent and accomplished male hero that is paired with a bumbling silly airhead female. Why make us women so silly?

Am not giving up on Ms Ross because of 1 weak ill planned story out of 5 good solid ones in this series. As always my gratefulness and appreciation to all the wonderful authors for sharing their stories with us.
