Loved, loved, loved this book. Slow burn with well developed characters. Cam was my b*tch! She was funny, sweet, strong yet, vulnerable when needed. And oh so loyal. Calvin was our hero, and what a hero! A man of few words. Arrogant and stubborn. But deep down, hurt and scared of being screwed over again. He’s possessive and a little controlling, but when he starts to open up, he’s so sweet! Read it and the others in this series. You won’t regret it. 😘
A really enjoyable read - it didn't feel like a typical romance novel but had more of a 'Wall of Winnipeg Vibe' by Mariana Zapata. There was something about Calvin that was really likeable, even though he wasn't that nice to begin with. Cam on the other hand, was easy to like and I found I wanted her to find happiness after everything she had been through. The characters gelled however and I couldn't put the book down - it was sweet, romantic and not cheesy - perfect combination for me.
I absolutely loved this enemies to friends to lovers romance from P Dangelico, my first read of hers and definitely not my last. The story, beautifully written from Cam's point of view follows Cam as she struggles to get a job following the revelations that her dead husband was responsible for embezzling millions of dollars from the general public. Penniless, homeless and with limited friends she takes a job as a live in nanny/teacher to the nephew of super hot, super arrogant quarterback Calvin. Cal hasn't got the best attitude towards women, with good reason too it would seem. Both Cal and Cam have severe trust issues, but soon enough they both learn to trust and depend on each other. Add into the mix a super cute 8 year old, who also has trust issues and it's quite the emotional rollercoaster ride. All the characters played their parts perfectly, I'm usually pretty good at seeing faults in characters, couldn't see any here. I loved the story, it was happy, sad, funny, emotional and an all round winner for me. The chemistry was pretty intense between Cam and Cal (once their relationship became physical, there was no stopping them). I was hooked from start to finish. I was provided with an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
