Emperor Wray Vasteri was the ruler of the Tornian Empire. His house had ruled the empire ever since the great infection, which struck over 500 years ago, and he feared he would be the last. The number of compatible females was dwindling faster than anyone knew. If they could not find compatible females soon, their entire civilization would cease to exist. It was the reason he agreed to meet with Liron, the emperor of the Kaliszian Empire in Kaliszian space. It was the only reason they had crossed paths with a Ganglian ship leaving Tornian space, and it was the only reason that the small female was discovered. Could she be what they had been searching for?

Wray found himself drawn to the small female he'd found beaten and abused on the Ganglian ship. She resembled a Tornian female but was much smaller. Could she be what he had been searching for?

Kim Teel has had a hard life - at least she thought she had until her parents were suddenly killed, and then her sister and brother-in-law disappeared. At 19 she realized she'd been protected from all of life's hardships. She had been cared for and loved her entire life and had come to expect it. She was terribly spoiled. Determined to change her ways, Kim went looking for her sister, only to be captured by the Ganglians, and it was then she learned what happened to the unprotected females of the universe.

Wray and Kim are both doing the same thing - trying to survive. But what they find is that there are more important things than just survival. And once they learn that, the universe changes forever.

Although this is book 2 it is actually set prior to Grimm. It actually makes it more interesting in some ways as when an event intersects with book 1 you have a delightful ah ha moment. The series is really well constructed and the political and personal ingrigues clever.

I love Wray's character. He is all that a worthy warrior should be. His interaction with Tora is well crafted too. Kim does amazingly well for all she has been through but found her seesawing between fragile and bold didn't always work for me. So sad about Curador but then I never like to see good guys ended.

Emperor Wray has been meeting with Emperor Liron of Kaliszian and was returning home when they encountered a Ganglian ship which refused to stop. Going aboard it, Wray finds an injured female hidden away. Heading back to his ship The Searcher with the female, when the shuttle is attacked and it lands on Pontus, a planet in Kaliszian space. There are more problems to be cleared up before all ends well.

I would recommend this book to all you sci-fi romance readers. Wray is a strong, fearless hero who will do anything for his lovely caring female.
I enjoyed learning all about the new races the author has invented and hope that as the series develops I will remember all their titles and race details.
There was a healthy amount of sex in the relationship but she could be a bit more descriptive. I have been jaded lately by how some other authors have written nothing but sex scenes and no storyline at all but this author seems to be stuck in the Mills and Boon era. But at the same time if chapter after chapter is all sex we readers tend to switch off and become immune to it.
The rape of Kim was handled well and I believe we were told enough without too many graphics.
Hope to see another book in this series out soon.
Great to see a new author selling her books at a reasonable price

Kim is an earth female taken captive and abused by an alien race. Wray is the Emperor of the Tornian race and rescues her.
Kim is a bit of a hothead who speaks first and regrets later which is part of how she was captured. Wray after rescuing her decides to find out how a female will view him not knowing he is an Emporer. If you have read the first book in the series this book follows the almost identical format and plot. The story starts with the couple getting to know each other and the second half is about how Tornians adapt and react to Kim. The storyline is well plotted but too similar to the previous book to make it stand out in its own right. A solid read and I do recommend if you enjoy sci-fi romance.

I have been waiting for this book for ages and was not disappointed , I could not put it down from start to finish. If I had to say anything bad it would just be that is was not longer,and that we did not have more about them trying to find earth or more about her life living there and her pregnancy. Also what happened to her sister Oh My God so frustrating to not now please be in your next book. I am so glad she got a happy ending after all she went through because of that creature,and poor wray too they were made for each over. An amazing story cannot wait for the next one.

I read this book because though I'm slightly embarrassed to admit it (just look at the covers!) I enjoyed the first book in the series. It's a great read for the price if you're in the mood for a simple space romance, with a hot, remarkably human-like protective, alpha male lead alien. Just as a warning, the lead female has experienced rape, which is difficult to read about, it is not in anyway romanticised (I am not OK with that), it's just something that she's dealing with as part of the story. I realise this might make it a do-not-read for some people and I understand that, I'd suggest you try Grim, the first in the series, if this is an issue for you, or one of the S.E. Smith books set in space.
