As an adaption of a good film this is okay at best. You usually fill like these adaptions fill in blanks and add to the story but thre extras in this feel like fluff.
This book takes the script and adds so much depth and layers. Each character is fleshed out, and given arcs and motivations barely scratched in the film. It has been, and ever shall be, one of my favourite books.

my review of the novel is not good, many things were incorrect to the film and the franchise, number one , being that the uss Excelsior was not finished until the enterprise returned from the genesis planet, when at spacedock she was about to start her trial runs under captain Styles, and number two is that Sulu did not have the rank of captain untill star trek 6 the undiscovered country, during the wrath of khan Sulu was still a commander and also to note that he remained as helmsmen of the enterprise ncc-1701-A. i also find the back story of the crew on regulas space station very boring and also when name the planet where found khan in the book it called Alpha Ceti 5 when it is really name Ceti Alpha Five. as a fan of star trek i was looking forward to reading this book but i was very disappointed
