At 8:28 I was the girl who had everything.

At 8:29 my whole world fell apart.

A split second can change your life. I learned this the hard way. I wasn't ready to let him go. Even when the terms "vegetative state" and "will never recover" were thrown around I held onto hope. I mean, miracles happen, right?

We deserved our happy ending.

Three years later and I'm still hoping. In my heart I know I have to let him go but how can I? He's the only man I've ever loved. He"s my soul mate. My life.

Then I meet Max. He's everything Aiden isn't and as much as I'm trying to fight my feelings, I'm losing. I don't want to fight anymore.

I need to live my life.

I need to move on.

But in order to move forward I need to let go of the past.

Leave your heart at the front page coz mine couldn’t handle this book. Within minutes, that dull ache that settles deep within had the tears rolling. What is meant to be the time of their lives, Kiara is living a personal hell. The man she loves is gone. His physical self remains bedridden, in a coma. How does she move on when the life she was planning never eventuated? How does she relieve the guilt of loving again when her heart is preoccupied with her comatose husband?
She battles her own confliction in a beautifully written and raw story. This book made me question my own thoughts on how I would manage if something happened to my hubster or if something happened to me, how would he respond?
As much as I cried through this story (and that is a huge thing for the author to make me do, so well done there), this is a great story about learning to love again, working through judgement, confidence building and learning to let go. Max is instantly loveable. I laughed so hard during the date scene and it was a welcome relief from all the sadness. The author has got this balanced to perfection.
Invest in some tissues but please don’t think this is a book about death and will have you pondering the question ‘what if’. It’s also about living and I highly recommend this read.
I was given a copy for my honest opinion.

I quite enjoyed Max and Kiara's story and found I liked the characters and the plot development. This book could do with extra editing though. E.g. in one part Max says her full name but the surname he uses isn't Kiara's. There are also some grammatical errors such as 'bought' instead of 'brought'. It may sound picky but I found it a bit irritating.
Overall though, this was a lovely story with a lot of emotion.

So sad - definitely need tissues for this one! Well written and I really liked the character of Max. A thoroughly enjoyable read but slightly emotionally draining.

4.0 out of 5 stars really good! 28 June 2015

This is an emotional story of love, loss, and letting go. 3 years ago, Kiara had everything she could want, a fiance she loves and a beautiful little girl. She was happy. That all changed when her fiance, Aidan, was in an accident. After the accident, he's in a coma in a vegetative state with no hope of ever recovering. For three years, Kiara isn't really living. She's raising her daughter, working a couple days a week and visiting Aidan. Her sister wants her to move on because she still has to live her life so she sets Kiara up on a blind date. The only thing is, Kiara has no idea she's going on a date and thinks she's meeting her sister for dinner. When she meets Max, she's angry and hurt to be set up but the more she gets to know him, the more she ends up liking him. Max is such a good guy. He loves kids, he likes animals, he doesn't sleep around. He's so patient with Kiara and is willing to wait for her to be ready for a relationship. I really liked Max. I knew going into this book that it was going to be emotional and it was very sad at times, but there was also a really sweet, slow-building romance. My only complaints are that the ending felt rushed a bit and I would've really liked an epilogue. Overall, this was a really sweet, emotional, and thoughtful story about moving on with life and finding love again.

-- MY THOUGHTS --
Judging a Book by it's Cover:
This is one where the title was enough to catch my eye, made more intriguing by the synopsis. The cover at the time of interest was a temporary placeholder, so I was unable to judge this book by it's cover.
Looking Deeper:
Alternating first-person POV, clearly marked and easy to follow.
Not long after kissing goodbye and exchanging "I love you"s as Aiden leaves for work does Kiara receive word that he's been in a horrific accident that leaves him in a coma. Three years have passed and the young mother struggles and fights daily to remain loyal to Aiden, but needing to move forward with their daughter, especially when new opportunities arise for Kiara. Outside forces push and pull her in many directions. As she battles them, she also battles with her own feelings and guilt all while trying to raise their daughter in the best way possible. Outstanding cast of characters, with natural and believable dialogue and interaction. The plot is full, rich, emotional and engrossing. The pace flows smoothly, moving at a comfortable pace. The conflicts are met in a mature, realistic manner. There is little to no predictability. The conclusion is solid, satisfying and complete with no holes or loose ends anywhere.
Words Left Unsaid is a powerfully emotional story that plays on our worst "what if" fears and Ms. Johnson created a perfectly balanced range of emotions throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book! 15 June 2015

Words Left Unsaid will leave you breathless. My heart broke for Kiara and what she wen thru. How do you go on living when the man you love, your fiancé and father of your child is taken from you in a tragic accident, only he's not dead, but has been in a coma for 3 years. Kiara longs to have Aiden come back to her and she has remained faithful to him. Her family knowing she needs to move on for her own wellbeing as well as her daughters, trick her into a blind date. She never expected to find a man like Max. As hard as she tries to push Max away, he stands true to her and is there to support her. Will she ever be able to find her true happiness or will guilt and tragedy consume her?

I loved this book! It was painful yet beautiful. It is definitely a 5 star read for me!!

I always jump up and down when I see that Missy Johnson has a new release coming. This was my second Missy Johnson book this week! She needs to hurry up and give me another one. This was definitely a cute, quick read. It took me less then 24 hours to finish it completely.

Kiara is engaged to Aiden who's the love of her life and the father of her 2yr old daughter Tilly. One minute they have a happy life full of life, happiness and love. The next minute there are cops at her front door telling her he's been in a terrible accident. Aiden hasn't died but it's just as bad. He's in a vegetative state. A coma. He will never recover. Kiara knows he'd never want to live the rest of his life hooked up to machines and tubes. Unfortunately, they weren't married so his parent's have all the control.

Three years later Aiden is still hooked up to the machines. Kiara is not living the life she should be. She has a part time job. Visits Aiden on her days off. Aiden's mother basically makes Kiara's life a living hell every time she sees her. The only time she's somewhat nice to her is when Kiara brings Tilly over there for dinner every week. Tilly is the only good thing in her life. Her sister Ellie and brother-in-law Grant have been a huge part in her life as well. They're always there. Help her raise Tilly. But, lately Ellie has been Kiara to start dating.

Max has just taken a new job as the principal of an elementary school. He moves back to his old neighborhood. Max's old friend Grant has set him up on horror blind date after the other. Like everyone legit just gets worse. Max went through hell with his ex fiance but he's finally ready to find love. Which is why he agreed to go out on another Grant set him up with.

Both Max and Kiara show up for dinner expecting 2 different things. He's there for a blind date. She's there for dinner with her sister. Yea, what an interesting way to meet. Max gets her to stay and to become friends. He promises her he'll be friends as long as she wants.

What starts off as a simple friendship turned into something more. Max had instantly liked her. But, understood her reasons for not wanting a relationship. So, he'd wait for her. Kiara started liking Max more and more. The more she liked him the more guilty she felt. Aiden's mother continued to make her life miserable. She kept trying to tell Kiara how to raise Tilly when it came to Aiden. No caring how things would effect Tilly now or in the future. It was sad.

Kiara has to learn how to move forward.Learn it's OK for her to open her heart to someone other then Aiden. This poor girl had so much going on. Between loosing Aiden. Work. Aiden's mother. Falling for Max is throwing her for a loop. Her sister telling her how to deal with her love life. The best thing in her life is her daughter. This is a great book. Sad and hard at times. I didn't cry as much as I thought. But, it still got me. It was a definite second chance story.
4.0 out of 5 stars Another Chance At Love and Happiness 27 June 2015

This was a really great read. Kiara had a pretty great life. She was in love, was engaged to that man, had a beautiful daughter, and a great family. But with one moment, her life is irrevocably changed forever. Aiden, her love, is in a car accident and he's in a coma. The doctors say he will never recover but his mother will not turn off the machines and let him die the natural way. Now it is 3 years later and Kiara is pretty much in a holding pattern. Her love is gone but his body is still in the hospital and she feels guilty. Heather, Aiden's mother, makes her feel horrible and does everything she can to guilt her. Ellie, Kiara's sister, think she needs to move on and live her life.

Kiara is a pretty great woman. She's a single mother to a beautiful daughter. She hates that Aiden is still in a coma, she knows he wouldn't want to be stuck like he is. She knows that there are worse things than death. Aiden's mother is pretty horrible to her but she loves her grandchild. Her sister and brother-in-law think she needs to move on and start living again. She's pretty much stuck between a rock and a hard place. In the 3 years that Aiden has been in a coma, no one has made her want anything else until Max walks into her life. He's a really great guy and she is very attracted to him. He starts to open her up to possibilities but guilt and fear make her feel stuck.

Max just moved back to the area and he was a close friend with Grant, Kiara's brother-in-law. He's a Principal at the local elementary school and Kiara's daughter goes to that school. Grant has set him up on many disastrous dates but there is something about Kiara that draws him in. He knows she has major baggage and has been through the wringer but he sees possibilities with her. He goes out of his way and does so many wonderful things for Kiara. He knows that she deserves to be happy.

Definitely worth reading.
