Wolfsong is perhaps the best werewolf romance ever written. It is also perhaps one of the best m/m romances on amazon. But even outside its genre, Wolfsong is one of the best books I have ever read in my life.
I've read other TJ Klune books and they're always good, but Wolfsong is the very best of their work that I've read. Wolfsong is emotional. It is powerful. It is beautiful. Klune's mastery of emotion in this book is incredible. The characters are overwhelmingly rich, like they'll step out of the page at any moment and be real. The scenery is incredible, the descriptions pop with colour.
The plot is simple, and it carries the story well. I could say a lot about story details but it is unnecessary. You should experience it all yourself. Klune adopts a very interesting style of writing, filled with short memory sequences, the quiet thoughts of Ox, throwbacks to the past, and a slow pace into the future. It works so magnificently. I couldn't put this book down and was up till 3am just to read as much as I could, before I had to put it down, and picked it right up again the next free moment.
The use of metaphor and symbolism is extraordinary and Klune trumps a lot of the authors I've had to write essays about. The soap bubbles. The music. The colour green. Everything ties the world, the characters and the plot together to create an atmosphere that you fall into.
You can see Elizabeth swaying to music. You picture Ox and his mother laughing as they get bubbles on their noses. You can feel the emotion as Joe and Ox bond again after all the years of hurt. You feel these characters like they were real, and you wonder how they couldn't be, because they are so full of life, love, hurt, hopes and fears.

One of the very best books I have ever read & definitely a Top Read of 2019.
A book friend recommended this one forever ago and I grabbed it. She kept asking if I had read it and I hadn’t managed to find the time.
FINALLY I made the time and I am kicking myself so hard for waiting.
This book is EVERYTHING. I can’t even describe how much I loved it. I switched from laughing so hard I was snorting to sobbing so uncontrollably I couldn’t see the words on the page. I finished at 3am and laid awake for ages smiling and sniffling thinking about the magic of this book.
Ox is one of the most beautiful characters I have ever read and I know I will be thinking of him for a loooong time.
Fated mates, evil werewolves, first loves, family bonds and the inherent goodness of a young boy who has no idea just how special he is made this a six star read for me. PNR Romance perfection

I loved this book, so much. Still unsure why i hesitated so long before i read it. Reading it was the best decision ever.
MC Ox is such a complex character. I loved how he may not have understood everything as it happened to him but he still grew so much. He never forgot his father and his hurtful words but he proved them wrong. His growing relationship with the Bennett pack was so beautiful. Learning about them, about love, about loss, about life. He grew so much in this book. Loved his development and that fierce loyalty he inspires in everyone but none more so than Joe. Joe is only 10 when the story begins but he has already been through so much that will shape the next decade of his life. I loved them together , they both complemented each other. I loved all the supporting characters and i hope to read their stories in the upcoming books.
If you haven't read this series and you like paranormal romances then what are you waiting for?

I read this book in one sitting, it was just so Damn good I didn't want to put it down til it was finished. Then, I started it again all over again, because it was so damn Epic and Awesome, that I NEEDED to re-read it, just so I could have the wonderousness of this book again. Sometimes, a story will come along and they it will be just so wonderful it touches you. This is definitely one of those stories.
I am not fan of shifter books. In fact this is the first one I've ever finished. Honestly I wish ALL shifter books were like this. It wasn't cheesey, or weak, or Insta-love, or a weird crap cookie cutter shifter book that you never want to finish because they're so bad, they're worse than lame.
This book was a journey of personal growth, and self discovery, of really understanding life and love and sacrifice. The characters weren't perfect, they were so richly flawed they made me cry for their heartaches and cheer for their victories. An throughout it all was a fabulously wicked sense of humour that snuck in a took you so by surprise, that reading this book should come with an "accidentally spitting coffee everywhere" warning. Some might find the book overly long, I didnt. It was perfect. It was truly Epic, and Awesome, and Candycanes and Pinecones.

This is the first book I've read from TJ Klune and WOW what an introduction. This book is about family, loyalty, love, healing and werewolves and magic....and so much more. It's a book that has you laughing out loud and then on the very next page will have you crying and your heart aching. So many beautiful moments and such complex characters....I hope there are more books to follow that delve a little deeper into some of the ensemble characters.

Every now and then a book comes along that blows anything you've read before out of the water. I honestly don't have the words for how amazing I thought this book was other than to say, it was all kinds of epic and awesome.
I couldn't put it down. It put me through the wringer emotionally but I just loved seeing the world through Ox's eyes. His and Joe's story was truly wonderful. (And it was one of the sexiest books I've read when it actually has very little sex in it. Sexual tension overload)

I am seriously struggling on how to start my review. I could just say, it was a great story, I was engrossed the whole way through. But that doesn’t even come close to how much this story gripped me.
This is the first time I have read anything by this Author, and it most certainly won’t be the last. I am eager for more. So much more.
I love reading paranormal, shifters are a favourite of mine. So when I spotted this Author being shared on a blog, I investigated. I am thrilled beyond belief that I got to take this adventure of pure fantasy with some remarkable characters.
Ox hasn’t had an easy life. He’s done and seen things that most others wouldn’t even comprehend. He’s always been special, many thought him to be slow, a retard. That comment almost did me in. By the time I heard that being spoken I was already knee deep emotionally invested, and I believe that comment was made in chapter two.
Ox was surprised one day to see the empty house next to him had residents. It was empty for so long, he always wondered about it. When Ox met the Bennetts, especially Joe his life changed forever.
Young Joe Bennett was the cutest, I giggled when he first spoke to Ox. “Candy canes and pinecones and epic and awesome.” That line right there will stay with you through the whole book. Joe knew that Ox was special to him, even from the age of ten. Ox was it, there would never be another. Unfortunately Ox never saw Joe as a grown man, well not straight away. The day that happened was something to laugh about.
Ox and Joe lit up my world. I always say the best place to be is to lose yourself in a world of fantasy, and that’s exactly what I did.
I fell in love with each character, Thomas, I shed tears for him. Elizabeth made me smile, Mark made his way into my heart. Kelly and Carter made me laughed. The guys from the garage made my day with their sense of humour. Even Jessie work her way into my affections.
It wasn’t all love, fun and laughter though, far from it in fact. Joe has constant nightmares and it’s not surprising considering what he had to endure as a young boy. Many people are out to hurt the Bennetts, as much as Ox wants to keep them all safe, it’s an impossible task. When they mourned one of their own, I did too. When they laughed or cried I did also. I was almost nearing the end of the book when I couldn’t take it anymore. I was so close to reading the end before I even got to it. My heart was picking up speed, and I thought I needed to know sooner rather than later. But my husband stopped me. His words were, “You’ll regret it, what if you miss something important” Grrr!! True so I carried on.
I could go on and on about how wonderful this story is, but I think you should just read it for yourself. If you love paranomal and shifters then don’t even give it a second thought. Hit the download button.

I’ve had this book in my wish for over a year and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was worth purchasing. However, whilst browsing through my wish list, I noticed the price had been reduced so finally, I thought I’ll give it go. I loved the book, it was well worth the money because I can see myself re-reading the book and enjoying it all over again and finally, I’ve discovered another m/m author I can add to my favourite list.
This book deserved more than 5 stars and I rarely ever say that. The author completely blew me away with his amazing world building. I’ve read several shifter stories but this one surpassed every single one because it was refreshingly unique.
Ox’s life changes when people moved into the house at the bottom of the street. He welcomes new friendships but never fully understands the depth of the bond he feels in his heart and soul. He struggles to accept his true worth and the author captured his insecurities really well.
Joe was adorable right from the very beginning and the pull between him and Ox was strong and vibrant throughout. One of my favourite scenes was when he goes to Ox’s mum to ask for permission to court her son. The things Joe said and his family all standing outside laughing their heads off when Joe accidentally tells Ox’s mum about him wanting to mount her son lol.
The wolf family and the songs they sung were heart wrenching and the author captured those painful moments really powerfully.
Joe and his brothers made me laugh and Ox made my heart physically ache.
This was a gripping story that will leave you wanting more. Be prepared for an emotional journey, surprises and twists.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: LGBTQIA, Romance
I've been seeing recommendations for this story for a while now but you know what its like, there's ARCs and KU, free books so actually buying one by an author whose work you don't know if you like....well, for me it rarely happens even though I was very intrigued.
Then a few weeks back it was on sale at £1.49 so I bought it. Only got round to reading it last week and wow - what a book. Its kind of hard to review, one of those that defies categories.
It is Romance, but its a very slow burn and TBH though we know the two are going to get together they're kids when we first meet them and have such a lot of growing to do, meeting others, just maturing. someone wrote criticising the sex, but I'm wracking my mind and all I can recall is one scene right at the very end.
Its M/M but the characters are so good that you don't think of any of them specifally in terms of what sex they are, just that they are right for each other.
Its werewolf/Supernatural but again so much more. The werewolf/witch angle is just a part of who they are it doesn't define any of them.
I adored Joe, been through so much and what a wonderful family. I got so angry at him at one point though I understood what he did but my heart broke for Ox.
And Ox, what a star he is, so truly good, loyal, despite the things that had happened to him, despite his awful father.
There's lots more characters here, who fit the story so well, and I'd really like to read more about them – but seems they don't have books. Yet – TJ Klune ;-)
Its one of those books that are bittersweet when they end, where part of you is glad things worked out finally, and the other part just isn't ready t leave the characters. Its a slow paced book, not an all action racey sex fest, but one where things develop over several years, where the story slowly expands, brings in more and more people and where Ox really grows into himself, becomes confident, where others see the strength and goodness that's in him.
A wonderful story, one I'll definitely re-read and I'll be trying more from this author.

My first thoughts of the book: jesusf*ckingchrist, this is AWESOME!
I picked this book up when I looked for similar books to the All for the Game trilogy and saw a comment that said GAY WEREWOLVES. Needless to say, it was decided that I NEED to read it! And ohmygod... it was soooo worth it!
Wolfsong is an amazing urban fantasy/paranormal book. Our hero, who tells this epic story is Ox. A boy whose father only saw the little slow boy and not the amazing little man who was fierce and loyal. The father left and Ox started his amazing new life that he didn't know of yet.
The epic adventure begins when a little tornado, 10 year old Joe Bennett appears on the dirt road leading home talking about pinecones and candycanes. And epic and awsome. Their lives intertwine from that moment.
The book tells the happenings of ten years. It talks about friendships and family, about the supernatural... werewolves and witches and the calling of the moon, about pack and about challanges and enemies.
The voice of the book is amazing and unique. Ox is a simple boy who sees the world in a simple, beautiful way and it comes through the text and how everything is described. We see into the innermost thoughts of the boy/man and go through all the emotions he feels from insecurity, loss, sadness, anger to relief, happiness and unconditional love.
And besides this emotional, heartwrecking journey of two souls gravitating towards each other throughout years.. we see an unbelievable, breathtaking fantasy world. We have evil werewolves, humans thirsting for blood, leaders judging the pack for being so close to humans and the exceptional bond between the members of a pack.
So many interesting and captivating aspects of the world. A ton of excitement. Amazing characters. Humour. Grief. Battles. Challanges. Just a whole bunch of awesomness.
I don't think I can capture the uniqueness of this series. I don't have the right words for it without spoiling the fun for you.
It's an amazing story with werewolves, gay romance, action and perfect, loveable characters!

Holiday books always have a special place in my heart.
First holiday book of 2018 Wolfsong.
It is an absolute stunner. A winner. An always in my heart book. Packpackpack.
I veer away from shifter/paranormal because I don’t usually like them. Too far fetched. Contrived. Fake. It takes a superbly written book to shift me. And has to have the backing of some pretty influential friends telling me it’s a must read to get me to dip my toe in.
So glad I did.
I feel the need to run with the wolves. To smell them. Let them make me smell of them. Sleep curled around me. I’m pack and home and love and brother and mate and soul and blood and Ox and Joe.
My weakness is books heavy on description and less conversation. A wolf doesn’t speak with words, just with looks and feelings. I think I’m part wolf. I howl at the full moon.
“It’s always the ones who are the quietest who often have the greatest things to say.”
“I dreamt of wolves and a bloodred moon. They sang to me and I took their songs and made them my own.”
“And then he was all standing there and he didn’t see me at first because I’m getting so good at hunting. I was like all rawr and grr but then I smelled it again and it was him and it was all kaboom...I don’t even know. You gotta smell him and then tell me why it’s all candy canes and pine cones. All epic and awesome.”
