In Maiden's Quest, a maiden — tired of waiting to be rescued — takes it upon herself to fight her enemies and escape. Maidens use cards from their hands to attempt to defeat an enemy or obstacle. As you play, the game's difficulty grows as enemies of increasing ferocity become active! An innovative turn-and-flip mechanism allows each card to represent up to four items, encounters, or allies. This fun and easy-to-learn game takes 10–30 minutes if you play non-stop. However, since each encounter is resolved separately, you can stop and stow away the deck at any time, returning to play when and where you left off at a later time! Since no surface is required, you can play while standing in line to get your morning coffee, while you wait for an appointment, or while sitting on the couch at home! Contents include enough for true solo play, co-op, or competitive two-player games, and, with multiple copies, more players can join in!

The rule book isn't good and there aren't very many videos explaining the rules. Be prepared to watch several 30+ minute videos to try to piece together how to play this game.
The game seems very dependent on luck. Most of the cards you just skip past, then when you encounter an obstacle you'll probably have a handful of other obstacles to use against it.
Other people say this game gets better after a few plays. I can definitely say that my first game was terrible. Not because its hard, it just wasn't fun or interesting. I spent more time shuffling and cycling through the deck than anything else. There didn't seem to be any decisions to make. You just run through the cards and do whatever obvious option is available. I'll try it a few more times and see how it goes.
I bought this game on sale and feel ripped off. I've only played one game and the cards are starting to show damage because I'm not good at shuffling skinny, waxy cards. I wouldn't recommend paying more than $10 for this game.
2 stars for some unique game mechanics and hope that it will get better with time. Maybe the weird waxy coating will wear off after a while.
