Wrong color shoes!13 April 2019 - Published on Amazon.com
First of all, why did the publishers decide to make Dorothy's shoes silver?! They're RUBY RED slippers! That makes the whole story! Imagine a kid's embarrassment where all of the kids are discussing the ruby red slippers and your kid says "No, they're silver" and they look dumb because they grew up reading the version of this book that decided to be different and depart from the original storyline. Why?
Wonderful for younger children22 January 2012 - Published on Amazon.com
This series of books introduces young children (kindergartens and on) to classic books. These books are condensed, and the stories simplified. I tried to introduce my son to some of these great books, and he consistently balked at the lack of pictures in other similarly condensed books. This series, however, includes enough pictures to keep his interest and give him the basics and desire to read truly wonderful writing. The Great Classics for Children series is a perfect way to transition your child from picture books to books from which they must create the pictures in their minds (as I tell my son). I love this series. We have a bunch from them and my son loves every one. And asks for them. Now that he's learning to read, I hope he will start reading them himself. Oh, do I need to even comment on what a great story, "The Wizard of Oz" is?
She is 10 and enjoys the Great Illustrated Classics very much28 November 2015 - Published on Amazon.com
Daughter loves the book. She said this version was very close to the original. I felt the art lacked detail. She is 10 and enjoys the Great Illustrated Classics very much.
Kid friendly16 March 2014 - Published on Amazon.com
I read this version if the wizard of oz to first graders every year. We usually read about 2 chapters a day. This book doesn't have all the graphic details as the original, but it has more pictures and the kids love it!
