Product description
About the Author
C.N. Crawford is not one person but two. Christine (C) grew up in the historic town of Lexington, and has a lifelong interest in New England folklore-with a particular fondness for creepy old cemeteries. Nick (N) spent his childhood reading fantasy and science fiction further north during Vermont's long winters. Together they work to incorporate real historical events and figures into contemporary urban fantasy novels.

I have loved all the CN Crawford books I have read in the past but have found this one quite hard to get into. I am glad I perceived though as I ended up enjoying the series and it ties in with other CN Crawford series.

Gripping

Really liked this book - I thought all the background of the story was so interesting and well thought out, while also having a fast paced plot and great characters. It made me think of Harry Potter at the start with the school setting. Overall a very enjoyable read.

I absolutley loved this book. One of the best things I have read in a really long time. I am very lucky to have found these authors, and I am even more lucky to find they have an extensive back list. You can trust I will be reading EVERYTHING they have written.

Fun and creepy!

I loved this book, and I am so happy to have taken a chance on a new author!
This book was filled with magic, and creepy history that pulled the story together perfectly. There wasn't anything missing from the book; the world and characters were easy to love, and make you yearn for more.
Not only was this book pulsing with magic, but it also builds to where you follow a friendship, and some of those friendships lead to an unexpected surprise.
Although this is a trilogy there was no huge cliffhanger which I am grateful for, although it easily leaves an opening for the second book, so you know what might be in store next for the characters.
I have to say I read a few chapters of this book, then bought all the books that the author has published at the moment, because I loved this one so much. I look forward to reading a lot more of this authors work for sure. I was not disappointed at all.

Beautiful story, but a bit overloaded with characters to follow
Reviewed in the United States on 11 August 2016Verified Purchase
I would give her excellent writing a 5, except I think she has added a bit too many characters that you really need to keep track of through the 3 books, and the God's and functions, and twists and turns, that at times I have to put it down to rest my brain. It may be just me, but that many over developed characters (who become integral to the story as it goes) remove a degree of my enjoyment of the story line. I can't enjoy when I'm spending time going back over past parts of the book to remember a person or thing, that's necessary to continue with a story line. It doesn't mean I don't think it's a great story, but sometimes you can over-think a plot at times, and I think she's done that a bit. I do love C.N's work though, but sorry: I have to call it like I read it..

Lovely,
Reviewed in the United States on 23 March 2015Verified Purchase
This was really a lovely book. I'm actually pretty excited to read more about it, since it's pretty obvious by the end of this book that this will be a series, or at least have one more book. There were two definable twists that I really didn't see coming, and I really enjoyed that aspect.
I've never been to Boston, but loved all the history that was part of it. It was really well put together and written. My only complaint (and it's literally my only one because I loved the story) is that the ending was a bit disappointing, just because it bopped around a lot and I never got a good grip on what was really happening. I felt like a lot was missed, and happened way too fast, to really feel oriented in the moment.
But the fast ending didn't really pull away from my overall impression that it was just a great story.
