More Hilarious Antics from The Witch P.I
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 October 2018Verified Purchase
Easy-reading, fun, and with more than a touch of craziness - 4 stars
While I’ve enjoyed all the earlier books in the Witch P.I. series, this has to be my favourite to date. The characters are really starting to come through, and the ploy of having Jill verbalise her thoughts (almost as asides, direct to the reader), add to the tongue-in-cheek humour.
Following the pattern of the books so far in this series, there is a lot going on in this episode too:
Jill Gooder, the P.I. who is also a witch, may not have the most exiting love-life, but in this episode of the hilarious series, even her pets seem to be having more luck! Winky, the one-eyed cat, not content with using semaphore to attract the attentions of a cat in a nearby building, has purchased a remote-controlled helicopter to enable him to exchanges love notes with the feline of his dreams. And, Barry, Jill’s dog, whose attention span is normally zero, is also concentrating long enough to do some courting of his own. Meanwhile, Jill is still tippy-toeing around her attraction to both a detective and a wizard.
Things in the P.I. business are also warming-up for Jill. A murder takes place in a lift, but it seems that fellow passengers saw nothing untoward, and, the mystery deepens when inspection of the security camera tapes show nothing amiss either. Although love and work are complicated enough to occupy Jill’s time, she still has to contend with cantankerous Grandma who is determined to see her rise through the witch ‘levels’ by insisting on a rigorous training regime. All-in-all, it spells (sorry couldn’t resist the truly awful pun!) another busy outing for the witch P.I.

I loved this one!

The fourth book in this series is the one I’ve enjoyed the most so far, I think. Jill is getting more comfortable in both her worlds and also enjoying the attentions of two attractive males, Jack Maxwell, in the human world and Drake in the ‘Sup’ world – lucky her! There are the usual zany characters, including Winky, the one-eyed cat and Barry, the crazy dog that belongs to Jill in Candlefield. Of course, there are crimes to solve, the main one being that of a mysterious murder – mysterious because the man seemed fine going into a lift but falling out dead, having been stabbed, at the ground floor and the three other occupants of the lift didn’t move and saw nothing – all backed up by the CCTV in the lift.
To Jill’s absolute fright, she has been entered in the ‘Levels Competition’ by her grandmother. Interesting contest; I was thankful that it in no way mirrored the Triwizard Contest that appeared in another book series about wizards and witches.
Jill tackles all that comes her way and comes out shining – but, as the title suggests, certain things do fall apart. You want to know what? Read these books!

Cozy Mysteries at their best.

Book four in the series and again one of those stories that is great to sit and relax with. It's a true Cozy Mystery.
The heroine Jill Holder is a great character and well supported with a number of characters who, whilst having Jill's best interest at heart always seem to manage to complicate her life.
No spoilers, but Winky the one eyed cat deserves his own series. Grandma, well best to say as little as possible, definitely not one to get on the wrong side of.
The mysteries are always well thought out and usually result in a fair number of individuals being suspects as Jill works her way through solving the mystery.
It's good old fashioned humour and a pleasure to read.
All that's left to say is get on with the reading. Book five next.

I am practically reading these things one a day!. Rather silly really, just wanted some light reading to help me sleep and the first one was free anyway, but somehow have become rather addicted. Quite crazy and and. I loved all the books so far!. I quite like the way she chats to the reader as she goes along and manages a very strange mx of skills to live a funny double life among humans, ghosts and "sups" and at the same time striving to help everybody else. -Fourth book just as good as the others - looking forward to the remainder

I love this series. I started reading book 1 and I have read 3 a week since then. I can’t put them down.
Stories are well written, with mystery, adventure, and humor. I loved all the books of the series and this book is no exception. I highly recommend reading it. Looking forward to the next one!
