“I was always told never to wish on the first star at night. If everyone wishes on one star, how will the star keep up? A star with too many wishes will just fall out of the sky. Rain drops are plentiful, and there are thousands. They wash away the filth and carry it to a better place. So when you make a wish, wish on the water and let it carry your problems away.”

Candice-Leigh Carson, a New York City best-selling author, was engaged to one of NYPD's finest. She was living the dream until she lost her fiancé, quit her job and moved, leaving behind the only family she ever knew. She left her best friend Jaxson, without saying goodbye. This is the first book in the (Water Series) by Elizabeth York ,and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the awesome story. Ms York has given us a story that will grab our attention and will hold us there from start to finish ,and then will leave us wanting more from this author. The way that Ms York has described Candice's grief was like riding a crowded roller coaster, the raw and the heartbreaking details and all the emotions just totally take us the readers into the mind and heart of sweet Candice . As I'm reading my heartaches with the pain she was going through, but her strength and her courage she showed was amazing .Candice is really a sweet woman that has suffered traumatic loss right off.But dealing with the shock ,grief , and sadness ,she learns on her best friend Jax to help her to over the rough times. Jax ,Chase's best friend is taking the loss hard also ,because his good friend was also his partner on the police department . The feelings between Candice and Jax was beautiful and so very special, Candice was so lucky to have such a wonderful best friend. It's so good to see how he makes her laugh ,and keeps her sane ,and it's really special just to how he keeps her emotionally alive. Candice has some curves thrown at her in this story ,that make me want to hug her and tell her everything would be okay. This amazing story is about survivor, strength ,friendship and love. I could tell you more about this touching story , but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this story, you won't be disappointed.

✰✰✰ 5 STAR REVIEW ✰✰✰

Candice Carson was living the dream. She was a best-selling writer, getting ready to marry the man of her dreams, Chase, until he was murdered leaving her feeling all alone. Her best friend Jaxson, Chase’s partner, comforts her the weeks following Chase’s death. When Candice gets more devastating news her and Jaxson take comfort in each other’s arms. Feeling overwhelmed and needing space Candice runs as far as she possible can.

Jaxson Monroe has loved Candice since they were kids, but decided that his best friend Chase was always the better man for her. When Candice runs off he decides to throw his entire being into finding Chase’s murderer, until Candice shows back up. He’s so close to nailing Chase’s killer he has to choose between sending her away or capture his friend’s murderer.

This is the first book I’ve read from Elizabeth York and I was not disappointed for one second. This book is jammed packed with action from beginning to end. I couldn’t put this book down, I think my family was about to revolt from lack of dinner I was so into this book. You fall in love with Candice, you want to fight alongside her, hold her while she cries, and laugh at her crazy jokes. When she was reading the letters from Chase I was a complete puddle of blubbering idiot.

The ending of this book took me completely by surprise, seriously boom cliffhanger, not cool dude. I wanted more, I needed more, and I was left hanging like “what the heck just happened”. Edges of your seat moment at the end that will make you want to throw your kindle in frustration because the next book isn’t out yet. I was left with more questions than answers when I got to the end which shocked me to the core. Elizabeth York will definitely keep you guessing with this book all the way till the very end. Please finish the next one in the series so I can read it already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wishing... I Read this Sooner!!!! 16 July 2015

Wow this book grabbed me from the first chapter and kept me reading until I was done. Thank You Elizabeth York for that.Such a beautiful love story with so many sweet and beyond romantic moments. This book is still on my mind and I have already recommended it to two friends.

Candice is a sweet woman who immediately suffers a traumatic loss. Between dealing with shock, grief, and deep sadness she leans on her best friend Jax to help her through this tough time. Jax, Chase's best friend, also takes this loss hard as it was his best friend and partner in the police department. The bond and bonding moments between Candice and Jax were beyond beautiful and special. How lucky is Candace to have such a wonderful and genuine best friend. He keeps her sane, laughing, and emotionally alive to say the least. Poor Candice gets thrown a couple more curve balls during the story that make you want to hug her tight and not let go; as she could use a million hugs lol. Her love for Chase was so deep, true and loyal. Chase's love for Candice was strong and

Elizabeth York perfectly described Candice's grief filled emotional roller coasters. The heart wrenching and raw details and emotions took us the reader into the mind and heart of Candice. I truly felt her pain and admired the strength, courage and class she showed throughout this whole book. To me, this is a story about strength, survival, persistence, friendship, and love. I absolutely loved and appreciated the friendship between Jax and Candice. What a great support team the were for each other. I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone; especially those who have dealt with loss and grief as I truly believe this book is relatable and can help out many people. It really helped me. Thank You Elizabeth York you now have a "forever" fan in me.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Cliffhanging, Tearjerking, Wishing-on-Watery Stars! 14 July 2015
By Amelyn Randall ~ Double-Edged Words Book Blog - Published on

God, I hate cliffhangers, but that doesn't stop me from adoring this book! I finished it hours ago, and I can't stop thinking about it, especially the ending (NO PEEKING!). I totally want to SLAP or even SPANK the guy with the last word. Grrrrrrrr! There's nothing like getting choked by the words on the first page, but the last page too? Wow. Elizabeth York knows how to grab you by the throat and make you PAY ATTENTION. She RIPS the tears from your eyes and makes you feel. You better like crying if you're going to read this.

I have never heard of wishing on water instead of stars. I wish I had known when my children were small, because it's such a lovely idea.

"I was always told never to wish on the first star at night. If everyone wishes on one star, how will the star keep up? A star with too many wishes will just fall out of the sky. Rain drops [sic] are plentiful, and there are thousands. They wash away the filth and carry it to a better place. So when you make a wish, wish on the water and let it carry your problems away."

The very best thing I can say about this book is that, after 51%, I made no more highlights, and I stopped making notes where I found myself crying. I had already made four such notes, the last one being, "SOBBING! GOD!" Yeah, I cried a LOT more, I'm sure, but I was also so sucked in to the story that I didn't think to highlight one thing or make any notes for my book review, as I usually do. Like I said: by the throat. Elizabeth York knows how to use her words.

Lastly, you might wonder why this isn't five stars for me. I'm sad to say my former-secretary self proofreads as she goes and I stumbled on just too many editing problems. This book would outright shine with better editing. For example, I's (Sally and I's attitude was positive) is not a thing. There's a pronoun for that: my. There weren't so many to wreck the story entirely, but they surely jarred me straight out of the book each time.

Overall, I highly recommend this book, and look forward to the second one (in hopes HE will get that SLAP from somebody). ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Huge Suspense Filled Stars 8 July 2015
By LHamp - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This is the second book I have read by Elizabeth York and she does not disappoint. Her writing is great, well developed, touching, suspenseful and exciting. She has a way of drawing the reader in from page one and taking you for a ride. Her stories are filled with twists and turns and her ending leave you wanting to scream! How she manages to create all these twists and turns is beyond me.

Wishing on the Water is a story about love and loss and taking the chance to find that one special someone again, who completes you. But along the way you are trying to accept what life has dealt you and move on and create a better life for yourself. Candice-Leigh Carson has the world at her fingertips. She is getting ready to marry the love of her life, she is a best selling author and then tragedy hits. She is left picking up the pieces of her life and trying to find the best way to move forward without her fiance. When another friend drops a bombshell on her already crushed heart, she flees. Starting over is all she can think to do.

Jaxson Monroe was Candice's fiances best friend and partner with the NYPD. He is left trying to put his own life back on track after losing his best friend and his friends fiance when she decides to up and leave. But he can't spend to much time dwelling on the past. He has a job to do. Bring down those responsible for his best friends murder. When Candice makes a business trip back to NY, Jax feels the pull to her all over again. He has always loved her and would do anything to keep her safe.

Will Jax and Candice finally realize that they are meant to be in each others lives for good? Will they be able to move forward and leave all the hurt from their pasts behind? And will Jax be able to keep Candice safe while trying to bring a killer to justice? Go grab your copy!!!!

I love that we get to see both Mark and Brooklyn in this story. It helps to tie it all together. Filled with more twists and turns than a roller coaster ride, you want to grab your copy today! I am sure you will be screaming and wanting to throw your kindle by the time this story ends. York is crazy good at the suspense she throws into her books. Shock and awe seem to be her specialty. This author will go a long way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love, lust, suspense, betrayal and curve balls galore! 5 August 2015
By Poconomom3 - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
4.5 Stars - I didn't start this book with any expectations but as the story started to unfold I began to have expectations on how it would go, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Just when you think you know what's going to happen next, the next curve ball comes your way. The blurb really doesn't do the story justice and doesn't portray the amount of suspense that this story contains. You will experience love, loss, heat, anger, many different emotions. It is full of people making bad choices but they own the choices that they make. I read the entire story in less than 24 hours, I could not put it down! When I was finished, I think I experienced shock. I had to literally summarize what I had just read to someone else who had read this to somehow make it real. The ending was a complete shock, maybe it shouldn't have been, but it was to me. I'm an avid reader and I feel like I should have seen it coming and I didn't. Be warned there is a huge cliff hanger at the end. Next book should be coming out soon, but you might want to wait. I have so many unanswered questions, the second book will have a lot to live up to, but I am very hopeful that it will. It was a really good read. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
