Product Description

After years as a black ops CIA agent, nothing surprises Roy Kincaid, yet his current assignment is close to a bust. How could his target—renegade genetic freaks—drop off the radar as if they never existed? Burnt out and discouraged, he hunches over a meal in a backwater diner when a half-frozen woman with the look of an abused runaway staggers through the door. On his feet in an instant, Roy kicks himself. His first instinct is to help her, make certain she stays long enough for the bluish cast to leave her lips. His second is to finish his meal and leave. The world is full of broken women. It’s not his job to fix them, but he can’t take his eyes off her.

Glory’s telepathic ability blares a harsh warning. Roy hunts those like her, but damn if he didn’t buy her dinner. Maybe she can fool him, just for tonight. Add a dry motel room to the meal. If she plays it very cool, he’ll never find out she’s on the run from the same group he’s targeted for death.

Enhanced genetics only go so far. A roadblock and her face on a Most Wanted flyer shatter her fragile truce with Roy. If her Handlers find her, they’ll kill her. If Roy finds out what she is, she’ll be worse than dead.

An engaging story of love and espionage, Winning Glory will snag you from the beginning. Engineered superhumans rebelling against their creators is the basis for this series. But if the callous acts of humanity aren’t bad enough to cause a rebellion the acts of the Nameless Ones are the topping on the cake of injustice. The book opens with Glory completing her first assigned mission for the Nameless Ones. You get an immediate introduction to the differences created in the superhuman. The mission sets the espionage tone for the rest of the book. The male superhumans aka the Nameless Ones segregate, starve and punish their females in order to keep them controllable, uninformed and usable. A push too far finds Glory on the run from both the Nameless Ones and the CIA that hunts them.

Roy a black ops CIA agent discovers Glory in a diner in Minnesota when she wanders in inadequately dressed for the freezing weather outside. He’s instantly drawn to her. While it takes him awhile to unravel her secrets the journey to enlightenment sees him revising his judgments on the “freaks”. We discover a caring, protective and loving alpha hero.

I really enjoyed to fast paced journey to love and adventure with Glory and Roy and I’m really looking forward to new books in this series. All in all this was a well written story and I highly recommend it.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

She was escaping from a life of abuse and manipulation, very few would have understood. As fate would have it, she stumbled into a cafe, cold starving and almost at her wits end. Seated in that café was man who could help her, understand her and surprisingly she was the lynch pin he was looking for, to solve his search, on how to fight the "freaks" that had been causing havoc world wide.
Trust took a while, but there developed repoire and each taught the other about the world and the talents they both had. They found they both had a common enemy, which made them closer still. Eventually, they learnt what was missing from both their lives, but there is a lot of good stuff between the meeting and the togerterness part, that if you take my word, rather than read the book, you would be missing out on. So read this fantastic story for yourself.
I have to advise that I was given a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review. I have voluntarily submitted this review.

This author never ceases to surprise me; no genre is off limits to her. In this book we have scientist once again tinkering with human DNA to make that super soldier; but when the scientist feel they are not up to their expectations they attempt to destroy them or even worse. The "genetic freaks" turn on their makers, killing them and destroying the labs. Now the CIA black ops are after them and have been losing their own at alarming rates. This is the build up to a unusual meeting and growing attraction between a female "freak" who has escaped from her handlers and through fate runs into the man who ask been seeking and killing her kind. Their story includes running for their lives, learning each other as "humans" not enemies, discovering secrets and what each of them is capable of. I love sci-fi, romance, and thrillers and this exciting story has them all. I don't do spoilers and have only skimmed over the events that I hope will have you want to get this book. There is so much more going on and I for one did not put the book down till I finished it. If you also love these genre's you must pick-up this book and you will be drawn into an exciting world filled with action and yes, even love.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Clone Wars… 11 May 2015

Who doesn't love a good story about a Clone War? While author Ann Gimpel's new war is happening on Earth and not on Geonosis, is it no less interesting as some real world events are pulled into the story, making it scarily plausible. Post 9/11, there is a new breed of super humans, created with good intentions yet things have taken turn for the interesting as some with design flaws have turned on their makers. One of those in the rebellion, named Glory, doesn't really know how to live in the outside world and is taken by surprise when she meets Roy, a CIA agent who hunts rebellious clones like her. What follows is an intense story that has elements of romance, adventure, intrigue and mystery. A really enjoyable read that sets up what I hope will be a pretty awesome series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Thriller! 26 April 2015
By Kevin Lintner - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
After the horrific events of 9/11, the United States began developing genetically enhanced superhumans to be used to defend the life and liberty of its citizens. Eventually the test subjects turned against their creators and destroyed all of the labs and the breeding farms they could find, freeing those held against their will. After their work was done, the test subjects created a hidden compound where things for the women went from freedom to captivity in no time at all. The society was controlled by men and the women were kept sequestered and uninformed because the men did not want them knowing the full extent of their abilities. The women were not given names and further depersonalized while the men became enamored with their abilities and decided that the human race was weak and needed to be eradicated.

One of these woman grew tired of being a nameless peon and gave herself the name Glory, and decided enough was enough. She miraculously escaped the compound and found herself alone in the middle of a harsh Minnesota winter. Glory stumbles into a coffee shop, almost completely lost to hypothermia and bumps into Roy, a CIA agent assigned to track the rebellious superhumans.

"Winning Glory" is a taut and action packed sci fi/military thriller that is also filled with romance and is so well written that fans of all three genres will find enough to keep them reading all the way to the end. The story take off right at the beginning like a thoroughbred horse bent on winning the Triple Crown and never lets up. Gimpel's writing is crisp, the plot line is not overly muddled with plot holes or unnecessary sub plots. Her characters are perfectly described and details which allows the reader to feel like her characters are real and the events actually happened.

Great stuff!
5.0 out of 5 stars ONE HECK OF A THILLER…… 29 August 2016

This is book one of this series and it is about DNA manipulation. There is action, suspense, danger, drama, life-threatening situations, freedom, abuse, humor, twists/turns, and love.
How did these genetically modified humans come about? Humans were genetically modified or enhanced after the events of 9/11 happened. The US felted that doing this would make superhumans and they would be used to help defend the liberty of life for all citizens. These test subjects, as they were called, finally turned against the doctors who created them. These superhuman start to destroy all the labs and breeding farms and freeing the ones that where living in said places. After this the superhuman build a place for them to live from probing eyes. But, there was a problem...the women went from having freedom to become captives. The men were controlling everything the women by not naming them. This way the women would not learn the full power of their abilities. And finally, the men decided that the regular human race was weak and needed to be killed.
The "NAMELESS ONES" or "freakes" where the men whose genetically modified abilities were developed compared to the women. These abilities included mind reading, advanced senses, super strength, brains that can download data and act like computers.
Then we have the CIA hunting down these "freaks" and eradicating them. Read this book to find out what happens between a CIA agent and one of the genetically modified woman.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant blend of action, sci-fi, and romance 18 May 2015

This is another fantastic read from Ann Gimpel. As with all Gimpel's books, she's brought a cast of unique characters to life, and made us fall for both Roy and Glory. The genetically engineered Glory has been raised in an isolated facility, and doesn't remember her life before. She's an amazing conversation of naive, strong, and willful, and she just jumps off the page.

Roy is hard, married to his job. and knows he's got a bad track record with women. And then he meets Glory. The two play off each other perfectly, the romance is sweet and hot at the same time, and the technological concepts Gimpel introduces really bring this book to the next level. And did I mention it's hot?

I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. I can tell there's a lot planned for these genetically engineered humans, and their CIA counterparts.
