Product description

Product Description

Enkidu awakes from his stone prison, a daimon in the form of a chimaeric creature, part lion, part falcon. Nanaia, a beautiful priestess with golden hair is the first thing he sees upon awakening. She gives him his purpose and reveals his curse: to be an eternal guardian for those of the royal blood. She baptizes him Farvardin.

Farvardin, who was Enkidu who was once…something more ancient and terrible, rails at his fate, and longs for the life he once had, the friendship of a great king and the love of his wife. But it doesn’t take him long to realize how much he now wants to stay alive.

He immerses himself into the political intrigues of a Babylon ruled by a young but wildly successful Macedonian conqueror named Alexander, the man he is charged to protect. His failure to keep the great king of this age alive will cost him more than just his life.

The curse of the immortal guardian guarantees it.

Wings of the Guardian is a short story in the Immortal Guardian series

5.0 out of 5 stars Brava, Sharon Reamer! 26 April 2015
By Robin Meloy Goldsby - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Sharon Reamer proves herself once again as a master storyteller with Wings of the Guardian, a well-crafted tale with plenty of surprises, strong characters, and subtle twists. She jams a lot into the story, leaving the reader satisfied but anxious to read more. I look forward to the next story in her Immortal Guardian series. As a fan of Reamer's muscled prose—I have read all of her Schattenreich novels, starting with Primary Fault and working my way through the series—I welcome anything this Reamer chooses to publish. She's a solid writer with a unique slant and a singular voice. Keep 'em coming!

4.0 out of 5 stars Magic and Mystery 4 May 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Wings of the Guardian is a wonderful achievement in fantasy storytelling. In setting the scene, Reamer has given tremendous attention to the details that make ancient Babylon come alive for the viewer. The robes, silks and tapestries; the oils and scents; the fruit and wine; every descriptive element of the story contributes to building a sensual world that draws the reader in. The main character is an immortal being of many names and forms, which adds to the mystery of his place and purpose. Supporting characters are more thinly drawn as one would expect in a short story, but Alexander the Great's appearance is a treat that makes me hope it won't be the last we see of him in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Sharon Kae Reamer's stories because of her unique blend ... 30 April 2015
By kc - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I love Sharon Kae Reamer's stories because of her unique blend of mythology and fiction. Her other series, the Shadow Zone, is even better, but I still find this series unique and worth reading. It has nothing to do with the Immortal Guardians series- hers is the Immortal Guardian Series which does sound similar but isn't. I found her main character interesting and the plot also strange and unique. I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique view on an old tale. Recommended. 27 April 2015
By RobR - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I bought this over at Amazon.co.uk.

Excellent fantasy based around ancient history. If you like a unique twist to your fantasy, you could do a lot worse than pick to well written and unusual offering. Reamer writes with authority, taking a well known tale (the Tower of Babel) back to it's roots, and then infusing a vivid and unique fantasy structure to flesh out the tale. Recommended.
