I loved everything about this book. Shay Savage always manages to write love stories that make you think. A boy with Aspergers and the popular girl in high school. Not your usual pairing but it works, it completely works. She writes a story you totally believe and writes characters you want to know. Beautifully written with heart wrenching scenes, hilarious scenes and some of the best internal dialogues I have ever read. Cannot recommend this book enough ❤️

Having been exposed to Asperger's and autism in my family, this book makes me laugh, cry and grit my teeth when I read most of the experiences Matthew went through. It is touching to read a story where despite what you face each and every day you do and can win. Even the smallest wins are the best! Great book, could not put it down! Thanks Shay for such a fabulous story!

What a touching, emotional and amazing story. An awkward boy who struggles day to day with things others probably take for granted. A popular, kind hearted girl who wants to see beneath the labels and layers of the beautifully complex boy.

Win Some, Lose Some is told in Matthews POV. I don't tend to pick up a lot of books told primarily in the male perspective. I think sometimes I just find it hard to connect, not only to the characters but to the story as a whole and that's why I mostly shy away from them. Yet with this book I was drawn to the subject matter, so I took a chance and yes, I'm really so glad that I did. Being in Matthews head was truly an eye-opening and fascinating experience.
Matthew was diagnosed at a young age with a somewhat mild form of Asperger's syndrome. Though the specifics are a bit unclear. He was not only an endearing character because of this. It was also because he was so caring, responsible and strong in the sense that he knows what he wants and although it may seem impossible for him, he pushes himself out of his comfort zone to achieve it. He's only eighteen years old, trying to finish the last few months of his senior year of high school and is on his own after both his parents have not long passed away.

“Part of retreating inside of myself was extraordinarily comforting.  Everything around me would just disappear as my mind would shut down to keep at bay all the thoughts that threatened to overwhelm me.  If only I could also keep out the physical reactions at the same time—the pounding of my heart and the difficulty getting enough air into my lungs—then it wouldn’t really be bad at all.
