I really, really like this series. I've read a lot of romance novels and this book, and series, stand out as being some of my favourites. The storyline and characters are just so much more developed than in many other books in this genre, and the writing is funny and touching. The steamy scenes are hot but not gratuitous, they keep the story moving and add spice, without being over the top or repetitive. This is a full length book, not a crappy novella, so I think for $3.99 it's a bargain and well worth the purchase. I highly recommend it and can't wait to read the next books in the series.
Playboy and 'least likely to settle down', Jordan Fawkes has met his match with his new assistant intern, April Weiss. Keeping a rather big secret from her, Jordan has to work side by side with a distraught April to keep her identity a secret when a sex video goes viral. It is most definitely a love/hate relationship with heap loads of sexual tension.
Jordan is his usual arrogant, egotistical self, but would we have him any other way?! But lying to Adam...that's new. April is not who we have been lead to believe she is in the previous books. Her association with the mean girl, Cari, becomes clear and I was almost feeling sorry for her. She did ultimately redeem herself towards the end and at that stage I genuinely felt for her...especially with Jordan's reaction, boy deserved a slap!
This was a great continuation to the Gaming the System series and all our favourite characters were present - Adam, Mia, Heath, Kat, Alex, Jenna and William.
It is not essential to read this one as part of the series but I would highly recommend it as Adam and Mia's story continues within it and other characters are further enhanced.
I've been looking forward to this book because I knew we would get to hear more about Adam and Mia's story and because I wanted to meet the woman who would tame Jordan Fawkes. As usual Brenna doesn't disappoint. We've met both Jordan and April briefly in the previous Gaming books. Jordan appears to be a player and April is tangled up with the mean girl interns albeit reluctantly so it's good to find out what really makes them both tick.
April is a peace keeper and people pleaser reluctant to rock the boat, a pattern of self preservation she learned as a child when her parents divorced and took it in turns to neglect, ignore or use her for their own gains.
After having his heart broken Jordan's form of self preservation involves surrounding himself with lots of ladies, allowing their attention to bolster his ego.
In an attempt to boost her sexual confidence April decides to challenge herself by having a one night stand. Dressed in dragon epoch costumes she and her 'date' have anonymous sex in April's room. But to her horror a video of their exertions ends up all over the internet. April being April she blames herself thinking she must have uploaded it accidentally. (I just have to add I love April; she is such a sweetie).
Little does she know that the anonymous man she had the best sex of her life with is her new boss Jordan. On the other hand he knew exactly who she was as he'd lusted after her for some months. Worse still Draco's CEO, Adam is spitting feathers as a Draco ID badge is clearly visible in the sex tape, bringing the company into disrepute.
With Adam threatening to dismiss the stars of the video, so begins the story of how April and Jordan have to work together, both of them in constant fear that their identities will be discovered. Throw in along the way some blackmail, hot sex, angst especially for April, great humour and a few more opportunities to see Adam and Mia too and Brenna is onto another winner,
