Wilde West is a wicked romp that with its inuendo and wit could have been written by Oscar himsef:he certainly would have loved it. The ending is a hoot. Read this years ago and again recently....it only gets better.
This edition of
Wilde West contains lots of mistakes, probably the result of a very careless transformation from print to e-book. Punctuation tends to go missing, but even more irritating is the number of cases where one word has been substituted by another that looks similar to the software but makes absolutely no sense. Just one example: "'Predate it" instead of "'Preciate it" - several times.
Ant that is a great pity because "Wilde West" is a very enjoyable book in the printed version - a real page-turner, well-written and witty.
The book started off way too gory for my taste, but I'm such a fan of Oscar Wilde that I continued to read. I'm not sure "enjoyable" is the right description for this novel - the crime really was horrific! - but it was thought provoking.
Wilde West is an unexpected delight. The sharp writing and interesting characters surround a decent but not unfamiliar slasher plot. This made me want to read Satterthwait's Miss Lizzie which also proved to be an enjoyable read. Give them a try.
