She's the author of the four part epic family saga, The Sugar Series, Sugar's Song being runner up for sweet romance in the eFestival of Words contest. Her other romance series, The Northern Lights Series and the Snowberry Holiday Series, are both set in Minnesota and are a mix of new adult and romantic suspense. If you love romance and romantic suspense, her books are for you! Her books please the contemporary and inspirational crowd! Katie lives with her soulmate, whom she met online at Thanksgiving and married in April. Together they share their lives with their three children and two leopard geckos. After suffering an especially bad spill on the bunny hill in 1989, Katie became an amputee in 2011, giving her the much needed time to pen her first novel, Sugar's Dance. With the release of Sugar's story, Katie discovered the unfilled need for disabled heroes and heroines! Her stories are about empowering people with special circumstances to find the one person who will love them because of their abilities, not their inabilities. Katie has a slight addiction to Twitter and blogging, with a lessening aversion to Pinterest now that she quit trying to make the things she pinned.

5.0 out of 5 starsA not so sweet heroine who had me cheering for her

I wasn't sure about this one because we met Winifred in a previous story and the way she treated Adam, oh boy, she was not nice. But it got me to thinking how much we want our heroines in love stories to be nice or sweet or endearingly cute. Something. Winifred and her tall stature and sour demeanor was no standard heroine. Who would want to save her first off, and would we care? Well, yeah, because she made me laugh, she was real with her grumpiness and real is better than sugary sweet fake. Her counterpoint was a mystery and the start of the story was perfect. They were both works in progress, both needing to believe in another person. I'm not sure who had farther to travel to find the person they each wanted to be, but the trip was worth it.

I really enjoyed Wicked Winifred. I don't like reviews that end up as a synopsis of the whole novel, therefore I won't write one of those, but if you like feisty characters paired with a great storyline, this one is for you. Katie Mettner never fails to make each book unique, even in a series set in a small town such as Snowberry, and I appreciate that. I also enjoy running across the characters from the other Snowberry novels and keeping up on their stories. This was a very enjoyable read.
