This is the fourth book in the De Montforte Brother Novels. I did not say Anything at the end of the first three as I like to read about the whole family before leaving a comment. Luciene who is the Head of this family is the worlds greatest manipulator and due to his promise to his mother when he was at the tender age of ten, Luciene took his vow seriously. Becoming the Duke over his siblings, Charles, Gareth, Andrew and two day old Nerissa, Luciene forfeited his own childhood for that of his younger siblings. This he did by ensuring each were married to their perfect partners. All except Nerissa who already had her chosen by herself. It was Lucienes manipulation that made his siblings so antagonist towards him, so naturally when the chance arises, they dish out the same medicine to Luciene just to get back at him. Poor Luciene, always in control, but not anymore and he finally realised what a terrible way he had treated his siblings by conniving getting them married to a woman he had chosen for them. This series is amazing, loved it completely. Each book is as independent as Luciene himself and well worth the reading.
Danelle Harmon does it again. This is the last in the books about the De Montforte Brothers. I loved every minute of it and didn't want to stop reading until it was finished. I look forward to more books by this great author.
What an ending to The De Montforte Brothers series! Emotional at every corner; twists and turns to boot; discoveries about self; triumph; loss; adventure; intrigue; mystery and oh my goodness, what a read! You won't be able to put this book down. All hail Ms. Harmon.
This is the forth story of the De Montforte brothers, and what a wonderful quartet of books they are, I have enjoyed reading all of them, although I didn't expect to enjoy reading this the last in the series, as I didn't feel an empathy with the personality of Lucien which I think may of been the authors intention. Though reading this book I found all my dislike of the character dissolved and indeed had trouble reading the final chapters without a tissue in my hand to wipe away the tears. Congratulations Ms Harmon a wonderful series of books.
Really enjoying this series of books, the characters are rich, deeply flawed and there's a happy ending every time. As bodice rippers go, thoroughly enjoyable.
Book 4, and Lucien finally gets his come-uppance. Lots of twists and turns to arrive at a satisfactory ending. If you haven't read the first three, then you must do so before this one in order to understand the feeling of disgust at his manipulations.
I looked forward to Lucien's book but, on the whole, found it a little disappointing. So much more could have been made of him and I got a bit fed up with him prefacing so many of his sentences with 'I say ...' Also, did Eva really need to address him by his title every time she spoke to him? What saved the book was Lucien's attempts to rescue Eva from the cliff in the snow. I thought that whole sequence was very well done and appreciated seeing Lucien unravel.
