I am just in love with this series! Wicked Mafia Prince continues the story of Viktor and Aleksio, as they try to locate their brother, Kiro, reclaim their empire, all while navigating love. To be fair, I knew I was going to love this story, even as I read Dark Mafia Prince. The reader meets Viktor, and it is clear that he is damaged and volatile, which only makes him more intriguing. From the time I put down Aleksio’s story, I was eagerly awaiting Viktor’s.

I freaking love these characters so hard! I was drawn to Viktor in the first book of the series. He clearly has some demons he is fighting, and he was incredibly emotional and volatile. While that may not be appealing to some, I love a good darker romance that has a hero similar to Viktor. And, let me tell you, Annika Martin did not disappoint with this character. His desperation to get back his love is almost heart wrenching. The scenes where they talk about the past are sweet but also extremely sad. Even though he has some demons, he still has some of the best characteristics of a hero: loyal, honorable, and dedicated. I just love him! The heroine of the story, Tanechka, is just as fantastic, and I found her to be an equal in every way to Viktor. She is fiercely independent, protective of innocents, and loyal. She is completely bada**, and her skills with fighting are unparalleled. Her character seems very authentic, and I enjoy how the author integrates her old life with her current one. Some may not like what she is doing for a “job”, but it completely fits with the growth of her characters, as well as the progression of plot. Annika Martin expertly uses who she is now as a way to show that the old Tanechka is still alive and well inside of herself. Not only were these two characters great apart, but they are simply irresistible together. The memories and the actions between them expertly show the love they once had for each other, and Annika Martin did an amazing job at making their relationship develop at an appropriate pace while also showcasing what Viktor did in the past and allowing the reader to better understand this complicated character. This book is truly filled with great, well-written, and well-developed characters.

Although I love Viktor, this plot is what continues to draw me back into the story. I just cannot help myself! I need to know how everything plays out. What is going to happen with Lazarus? How will they find Kiro? What will he be like? How will Viktor and Tanechka make a life together? What is the revenge going to look like? This book answered so many questions but left me with a so many more. Annika Martin’s ability to blend suspense and romance is done so well. The reader gets just enough of each, and I cannot wait until Savage Mafia Prince comes out so I can see how their story will end.

Annika Martin’s Dangerous Royals Romancel series is just simply fantastic. There is suspense, love, betrayal, atonement, love, loss, and revenge. Really, how does a book get better than that? Make sure that you pick it up.

Wicked Mafia Prince (A Dangerous Royals Romance #2) by Annika Martin
4.5 stars!!!

“It starts with the stare. Ends in blood…”

Annika Martin delivers once again with Viktor’s story. While each book centres around one particular brother the continuing storyline throughout this series has me totally hooked. I love a good Mafia romance and with three extremely different and intriguing brothers this series is certainly a winner in my eyes.

In Dark Mafia Prince Viktor was the quiet one, he had that air of silent but deadly about him, was a man of few words and seemed more reactionary than a plotter and schemer, but that was where his brother, Aleksio levelled the playing field. While Aleksio could fight with the best of them, he had the head on his shoulders while Viktor was more the brawn and this certainly becomes apparent in Wicked Mafia Prince.

Viktor keeps himself to himself but those closest to him know that he is the way he is due to the loss of his long-time girlfriend, Tanechka. Viktor had to make the hardest decision of his life when it became apparent that the one person he thought he could trust with his life betrayed him. Tanechka was a turn coat and committed the ultimate betrayal. She was a trained assassin too, she was Viktor’s partner in crime, best friend, confidante and the love of his life. Having to kill Tanechka, killed a part of Viktor too and the guilt has been all-consuming ever since.

“I’m the man who will keep you from your god until you remember you’re a devil.”

So when Viktor thinks he sees Tanechka on a live feed on a human trafficking site, his friends are quick to dismiss it as a guilt induced ghost, but has Tanechka really come back from the dead?

Annika Martin once again delivers a story that has you constantly on the edge of your seat. With the hunt for Kiro continuing and the Mafia families still competing for supremacy will the brothers rise against what is turning out to be a formidable opponent?

I loved that we really got to see Viktor as a person rather than an assassin, his guilt with regards to the woman he loved and lost was palpable and his hurt bled off every page. Recounting their relationship through flashbacks tugged at every heart string, especially knowing how their story ended. Their bond was impenetrable; their love was endless but trust once broken in their line of work was always certainly a death sentence.

“It’s true – everything in my world changed when I met Tanechka. She showed me somebody could love me. And then she betrayed me, betrayed the gang. Or seemed to. I felt so wild when I thought she’d turned traitor…yet deep down it felt inevitable, too. I didn’t know she was innocent. And I killed her.”

Lazarus is still their deadly foe and while the hunt for Kiro is still open ended the net is closing in. I had to chuckle at Lazarus’s newest leadership guru, this gave some light entertainment in what was an intense read.

Annika Martin, I cannot wait for Savage Mafia Prince, this series has certainly become one of my favourite Mafia reads and I cannot wait to read the conclusion to the brother’s story. Kiro is definitely a character we know absolutely nothing about but the little background we have is certainly going to lead to another tense and intriguing read. Bring on October!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Series! 23 October 2016

Victor is a man who suffers from the guilt of not trusting the woman who was his other half in life, love and battle. When he feels her presence once again, he becomes dogmatic in his attempts to right the wrongs of his mistrust. This is the second book in the A Dangerous Royals Romance series and to fully appreciate the story, you need to read it in order, beginning with Dark Mafia Prince. Each book introduces you to one of the three brothers, who they say will all rule together as one. While each book highlights a particular brother, it does so while they search for the one brother whom they have not seen since he was an infant.

While on a mission to stop a human trafficking syndicate, Victor is sure he has found the woman he had long assumed dead. He feels her every move, he watches the predictability in her mannerisms, at the same time as not being able to convince others it is her that he sees. The romance is a slow burn. A battle between dark and light, good and evil and ultimately God and the unbeliever. Two strong, determined warriors hang on to what is faithful to their beliefs. Victor is ruthless in his determination not to bend and bring his Tanechka life again. Tanechka refuses to drop her guard and can not be anything other than who she sees herself as.

“I’m the man who will keep you from your god until you remember you’re a devil.”
Their situation seemed frivolous, a man trying to change the past. It shows how the past is set in stone and the experiences they won’t forget nor dismiss what they have endured. Victor has faith in their untenable connection and is hell-bent on resurrecting her through reconnecting the missing pieces. Tanechka is not the woman he once knew and while she does all she can to convince him otherwise, he is adamant to do what the old Tanechka would want him to do – fight for her! This book is aptly titled the Wicked Mafia Prince, because he will stop at nothing to get her back.

Initially, I struggled to get back into this series. There have been a few books in between when I read the Dark Mafia Prince and this book. Usually, I can pick up a memorable storyline with the ease of familiarity, but this wasn’t the case this time. Was it the beginning or was it my head-space when I began to read, short of reading it again, I have no idea. When I finally fell into the rhythm of the writing, I didn’t want to stop reading. The patient planning added to the crescendo of the suspense which placed the setting for a brilliant dramatic showdown.

I thought this installment was better written than the first, that the author found a consistent voice to express this story in. Victor and Tanechka were good characters - he remained as driven as in the first installment, but he was very ready to express his love. She was tough but soft. I've read novels before where the person who was almost killed forgave their lover and never found it believable - finally, a plot device where this could work - bravo! The underlying plot didn't advance much, but we learned a lot about Lazarus. I am looking forward to the next book.
