Product Description

All Tyler Mercer wanted was to make music—until he met Avery Jenson. The beautiful new girl in town turned his head and struck a chord in his heart. But when their one night of passion results in devastating tragedy, Tyler hits the road, leaving behind his dead-end hometown and the girl he knows he’ll never forget.

After her father was caught embezzling, Avery’s comfortable life in the city was blown to bits. But meeting Tyler helped to pick up the pieces and eased her into country living. She just never expected the handsome musician would add to her heartbreak by walking away without a backward glance.

Now, three years later, rock star Tyler’s come back, hat in hand. He’s found fame and fortune as a member of Wicked White, but it’s all worth nothing without Avery’s love. Can she forgive him for leaving when she needed him most? Or will the ghost of their past keep them apart?

In the world of Rock stars and the related sub-genre of romance novels, there's a way things work. Most bands, real or imagined are formed from a close knit group of friends, often including brothers, or guys that are as near to being brothers as you can get, and then sometimes additional members are added to that tightly knit group. Sometimes they work out. Sometimes they don't, but that set up creates the dynamic in which many authors create an equally tight knit series of interconnected standalone novels featuring the various band members.

Wicked White, the band featured in the series of the same name by Michelle A. Valentine isn't that kind of band, and the series of novels based on them are as disparate as the members of the group that despite being more hard rock than light pop, is nevertheless, still a manufactured boy band.

Tyler Mercer, the guy who will one day be known as Tyler White, drummer for Wicked White, his story starts years before the band's inception and oddly enough revolves around a promise he made to his dying father. A promise that has no room for romantic entanglements with a hot college girl who almost literally came crashing into his life.

Avery Jensen has lost almost everything in her world except for her father, and while he might be at least partially to blame for all of that, he's still her dad and he's still trying to do right by her, so together the two of them bundle up what's left of their worldly belongings and retreat back to the small town he comes from and move in with his mother, Avery's Granny.

3.0 out of 5 stars I liked Tyler, I didn't like Tyler, I liked Tyler, I didn't like Tyler 31 May 2016
By lorraine M - Published on Amazon.com

This is Avery Jenson and Tyler Mercer’s story.
Eighty percent of the story takes place before Tyler Mercer became
the drummer in Wicked White.
The majority is told through Avery’s POV.
It started strong with Avery striking back at her cheating boyfriend by
taking a crowbar to his car when Tyler intervened.
Tyler is part time musician, full time stock boy in a poverty-stricken town.
His goal is to make it big in music while fulfilling a promise he made to his dad.
Wanting the best for his son Tyler’s dad made an unrealistic request.
Avery’s college/sorority life ends when her father shamed
the family causing them to relocate to the same town where
Tyler lives.
An avid fan of Michelle Valentine I'm used to her panty melting sex scenes along
with ear piercing screams of ecstasy as her ability with erotic flair is burned into my mind.
Wicked Love is NA contemporary romance with more talk than action.
The characters are young and likable but lack pizzazz.
The bond that developed between them was doomed when one
night of passion changed everything.
He took off on the most painful night of Avery’s life.
Quotes: “Being with you— it was a mistake.”
My breath catches. “A mistake?”
He closes his eyes and when he reopens them, there’s a hardness in them, like he’s trying to cut off all his emotions.
“I have to refocus on my music, and there’s no room in my life for you.”

Fast forward three years later when he returns as Tyler White
from Wicked White.
I have mixed feelings on the way it ended.
I like happily ever after and sweet surprises but
I was annoyed that Avery forgave him too easily.
He was the drummer of Wicked White probably partying
and shagging groupies. Then he strolls back into town and all is forgiven.
Ahh, NO!
What happened to that feisty girl who was ready to smash
car headlights of a cheating boyfriend, where’d she go?

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly wicked 3 June 2016

Its a tough adjustment for Avery, leaving it all behind, but finding out that the hot, tattooed rocker she met briefly on campus before everything fell apart is actually a local in her new hometown promises to help ease the adjustment.

Tyler and Avery's story isn't for the faint of heart. There are parts that are sweet and parts that are sexy, but there are also parts that are tragic and downright heartbreaking, but friends and family, the good ones, they're always there.

Revolving heavily around those father/child relationships, relationships that are intrinsic parts of the makeup of each of the two main characters, this story was like nothing I could have imagined as part of series of books revolving around a rock band, and the ending took me completely by surprise.

Despite the shock though, I loved it.

Avery Jenson a young woman who has seen the best in life is now seeing what one mistake can cause your life to take a turn and how priorities can change in an instant. But when Avery meets Tyler all she sees is Life can be good but sometimes life gets in the way and there are ups and downs but you hope that you can find that HEA after all.
3.0 out of 5 stars a little slow 1 January 2017

Serious plot goof!! At the end of book 2 Tyler is said to have come off stage with Wicked White, yet is this book he is doing his own thing before then.

The first half of this book was slow. Avery was not a likeable character, she was stuck up and a bit petty.
After reading other reviews, I skipped to about 60%, where it was said to pick up.
Avery does forgive Tyler very quickly but I think it was because she was keeping one of her own.
