I do love kresley Cole's books. Particularly the immortals after dark series. I love the kick arse intelligent heroines, the quirky sense of humour, the alpha males, that no one is truely bad or good. This book has all the things I love about Cole's writing. So I recommend you read it.
So why not 5 stars? Well I've been reading this series for 10 years now and you have to admit there is a fair bit of repetition in these books. I could see all the developments in this story coming. As much as I appreaciate the irony that she inserted a tale where the author is being encouraged to wrap it up, I have to say I agree with the sentiment. I'm a tad annoyed that this is essentially book 2 of 8 of a series within a series. Particularly as only one is being released a year when it was previously 3 a year. There were big characters I was waiting to hear about 10 years ago that seem to have been forgotten and instead the story has gone off on a tangent that will take years and I already have the general gist of their HEA. So please move the main story along. Let's have another Valkyrie book and no more new characters.
So I love the writing and I love the series. But I also hope that it goes out with a bang and I can continue to love it rather than the slow fizzle.
