Despite all this, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's fast-paced and funny, and the dialogue is snappy. I found myself rooting for Alex and Henry. I also loved that there was no fudging on the sexual aspect of the central relationship. US YA can be so prudish at times, especially when it comes to LGBTQIA+ stories, so this story made a refreshing change.
Not highbrow literature, but if you embrace the cheese you'll have a great time.
Red, White and Royal Blue was one of those. I just adored every single thing about it.
A sweet, fun, wonderful enemies-to-lovers story that enraptured me from the first word to the last.
Alex and Henry have gone from "ugh, why are you here" to "sigh, I wish you were here" and I loved every single up and down of their relationship. I laughed, I cried, and I loved with them.
There are fantastic secondary characters that I would love to see more of in the future.
The last 20% of this book was ah-freaking-mazing, and I found myself having to hold myself back from skipping ahead to find out what would happen to our lovelies.
One of my favourite books of 2019.
This book is so much more than just a romance. It's heart-wrenching, gave me hope for the future and made me smile.
The First Son, Alex hated Henry, the Prince of Wales so it wasn't easy for him to pretend to be friends with him. But after an incident at a royal wedding that could have caused big problems for the two countries, he had to go along with the deception. Both men were surprised when they actually became friends, then more. As they sent texts, emails and phone calls they started to depend on the other. When they fell in love, they knew they had to keep their relationship a secret for the sake of their countries and families.
Their romance was wonderful. I wish I had their kind of relationship. This emotional romance will have you rooting for the men to have a happy ending.
I loved that a woman was president. AND she had biracial children. While we were taken into the world of politics, this book was strong on family and feelings. Politics can often be dry reading, but that didn't happen here. The various sexual orientations were handled well and the friendships made me wish I was one of them. The author created an incredible romance with unlikely characters and unusual settings.
I can't thank the publisher and NetGalley enough for the chance to read this incredible book.
It’s a rom com. It’s an m/m love story. It enemies to lovers. It’s smart and sweet, & it’s so witty and funny I smiled like a loon the whole way through. Gah!
The pace is fast and the story moves along in a very genuine way. One special touch is all the on page correspondence that Alex and Henry share. My heart almost burst with how much I loved them! The characters are beautifully developed. Honest, complex and just the right amount of neurotic to make them interesting. The friendships and supporting characters make it such a rich story. And the dialogue - well it’s PERFECTION. I LOLd more in this book than I think I ever have. I swooned over their developing romance and my hurt ached in my chest at times, when the author reminded us of the very real world problems they faced - just because they are two men falling in love.
I absolutely recommend this story and cannot wait to see what this author comes up with next.
