Amberlyn follows her late mother's final wishes and moves to Ireland to be with relatives.
She helps out in the bar they own and finds a loving family in which to find some happiness and plan her future.
Declan is the son of the local gentry who own one of Ireland's finest distilleries. The locals have dubbed him the Whiskey Prince. He is reclusive and broody - a bit of a mystery man rarely seen in town until he spies the lovely Amberlyn at the lakeside and is drawn to get to know her. Declan's parents are keen to have their son marry before taking on the distillery as CEO. But Declan is resistant to pressure, so they threaten to give the position to their new soon-to-be son-in-law.
With his relationship with Amberlyn so new and fragile, Declan fears for his future, but refuses to put Amberlyn under pressure.
As the family host a huge ball at the estate things come to a head and Amberlyn risks her life for Declan.
This is book one and can be read as a stand alone with a satisfying conclusion or you can read on to see how the story further develops.
A song called The Parting Glass is mentioned several times in this story and if you Google it, you will hear a beautiful rendition on You Tube which will put tingles down your spine.
