Wow, I loved this story.
From chapter 1 I fell for Ryan. He was sweet and sexy and sincere, and I so wanted Haley to love and want him as much as he loved and wanted her. They had so much history--mostly good, but then there was the bad. The bullet that killed their relationship. I had no idea how they'd ever overcome this one hurdle, but I so wanted it to happen. Not only for Ryan and Haley, but for their canine fur-child, Duke. Because I could tell he loved them both, equally, even more than jerky (and that's saying something!)
This second chance romance is a must-read for any fan of small town, feel good, friends-to-lovers romance. Lauren has woven a story which is flirty and fun, but by no means frivolous. The barriers keeping these two friends apart are real and significant, and it will only take great courage and trust for the two to contemplate giving their relationship another go.
Can't wait for book 2 in the Hideaway Bay series!

It took me awhile to get to this book (hello, out-of-control TBR pile) but once I had, I didn't put it down. This is definitely a 'should be in bed' one-sitting kind of book.
