Read as a dual point of view, their instant chemistry was very insta-love, although there is nothing wrong with that, after all this is a romance novel.
There are issues dealing with child abuse, alcoholism, grief, love and loss. Predictable story line, good development of characters, along with supporting characters. Some issues with sentence structures, overall an entertaining read.

Brooke O'Brien captured emotions very well and kept me guessing what was going to happen next.
Ellie and Callum meet in the wrong place at the wrong time. And even though the attraction is strong, there's just too much sadness in Ellie's life for her to even think of anyone except herself at that time. Settling in to a new town and finding her feet is all she can contemplate.
Until she meets Callum again when she's out with friends. And so begins the process of getting to know one another and waiting to see if their circumstances will change from friends to "more"...
I look forward to reading more from this new author.
I do advise reading them in order for a better understanding, although not necessary.
I also found there are far too many exclamation marks and CONVERSATION WRITTEN LIKE THIS WHEN SOMEONE IS MAD which makes me cringe when I read over it. I had to put the book down and stop reading at the 35% mark.
