I enjoyed this book because it doesn't have the typical ending most books have. It told a terrible story of survival and dealing with life post-trauma, being brave and never give up. Once you start reading you won't want to stop until the book is finished
Mia Sheridan is an automatic download for me. 'Where the Blame Lies', her latest romance/action/suspense, is another outstanding trope with an intense plot, vivid imagery and multilayered characters. The events that unfold throughout are unpredictable and the psychological edge that colours the whole situation, is darkly facinating.
Josie Stratton is an amazing woman who survived a lengthy and devastating trauma. While fallible, she showed unbelievable courage and later, tried to reintroduce herself to a normality, showing great resilience. Cincinnati Detective, Zach Copeland is professional, principled and protective. The two lovelies come together because of disturbing and chilling circumstances - at a time when all Josie wants is peace, but Zach desperately needs to solve a crime. WtBL is set it in present day, then gradually injects Josie's harrowing backstory - quite an emotional journey, but so well handled by the author.
Mia is certainly a talented, natural story-teller and goes to great lengths to create believable, sympathetic and detailed histories for all her characters, making them seem so real. I am enjoying her new writing direction, but will always love her 'mood' narratives, too. So, I hope she continues serving up both reading treats for a long time to come.
I haven't written a review for over a year, but this story ,like all her others was just a fantastic read. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. I didn't predict the killer, which is something I enjoyed, the cross between the past and future wasn't annoying, but insightful. She wasn't a weak character that was drawn out "will she, won't she". She was strong and determined. A sad story, that was a wonderful read.
Wow, I can’t help but be a little speechless after finishing this book. It wasn’t what I was expecting and was different to the usual books I read, but it was absolutely fantastic, well written, a story that will keep you wondering and guessing. Perhaps a bit bittersweet, but just so well done, I couldn’t put it down. 5 stars and a top read for 2019 for me.
This is a book that goes straight to my all time favorites . A must read from a wonderful catalogue of novels by one of my most respected authors. The story got to me on so many levels but I also felt it was "complete" in that I was not craving more epilogues. The ending was a perfect HEA. Well done.
I love it when a book takes a twist and turn that you'd never have expected. I love all of her books and this one takes the cake (actually they all do!!) Never have I read anything by an author with such raw emotion, so deeply moving.
