Love is a journey - Rosemary Beach is the destination…

The future is bright for Reese Ellis. She has Mase Colt-Manning, the man of her dreams, and a family she didn't know existed until her long-lost father arrived on her doorstep in Rosemary Beach. Everything is finally falling into place.

While Reese is visiting her new family in Chicago, Mase spends time with his "cousin," Aida, who has worshipped him since childhood. Unrelated by blood, Mase and Aida have been raised to think of each other as family. But when Reese returns, she can tell something isn't quite right. Aida clearly resents Reese and excels at manipulative little games. And though Mase is unsuspecting, Reese knows Aida doesn't love him like a cousin should…

Ooh, a few unexpected twists and turns in this sequel to When I’m Gone. *Spoiler alert: You need to read that book first before reading When You’re Back*.
Reese is taking the leap and moving to Texas to be with Mase. But, not before she spends time with the family she’d never known after her father suddenly appeared on her doorstep in Rosemary Beach. After having that shock and enduring all the setbacks that have kept her and Mase apart, she’s ready to take their long distance relationship into close quarters.
Texas has other plans, throwing up more hurdles for them to jump in the form of a jealous cousin and an enigma named Major, to start with. Major happens to be Blaire Finlay’s brother. He seems to pop up wherever Reese is, watching her, flirting with her and putting her on edge. As Reese’s independence and confidence grows, will Texas be the thing that finally pulls them apart?
I had some catching up to do on Abbi’s books, so I’ve just read four consecutively. I started to lose a bit of steam as I got to When I’m Gone. Then I perked right back up with this one. I really like Mase and Reese’s story. Especially how he sees her worth, potential and takes charge of getting her the help she needs, with some assistance from a Kerrington Country Club fave of mine, Jimmy.
I think I’ve liked When You’re Back more because Reese is finding her footing, growing as a person and feeling more valuable as she takes on a new challenge. I still think I would have liked her to own it more and not be so disbelieving of her own charms.
It also helps that they are finally living in the same state. The introduction of the competition, the magnetic, compelling Major, kept me flipping the pages to see what happens. I can’t wait to read his story.
Those weren’t the only surprises in store. You’ll just have to read it to find out.
4 Flares.

In When I'm Gone, the immediate precursor to When You're Back, Mase Colt-Manning becomes captivated by Reese Ellis, and by one particular part of her anatomy. (and its not any of the typical ones). Reese has a freckle just below her left butt cheek that's clearly visible when she's wearing shorts, and, if you think like a guy, and download the cover image, and zoom in real close ... no freckle.

Where's the attention to detail? (and from Mase's point of view at least, that's an important detail.)

But, as they say, you can't judge a book by its cover, and while the cover might be of a girl without a freckle, the book is surely about the girl WITH the freckle.

I've read all of Abbi's Sea Breeze and most of the Rosemary Beach series and, while I enjoyed this one a lot, I'm not going to give it five stars. This one just gets four.

While I loved the story, and was excited that she took the series in directions not seen before, there were more than a few places where the book just seemed ... disjointed. I had the impression that different sections were written at different times and not enough attention was given to making sure those sections meshed seamlessly with each other.

That said, new directions is definitely a big plus to counteract that negative. We have a murder. Apparently one in a long string of murders, though they're only mentioned in passing. We also have what appear to be brushes with the world of organized crime. Hopefully these set up future books in this series, or possibly in a spin off series, to head in different directions beyond the tried and true formula of the last 11 books.

I love all of the books by Abbi Glines that I've read so far in the Rosemary Beach and Sea Breeze series. She's an excellent writer and her stories come alive under her words. Its very easy to relate to and empathise with her characters- something i love from authors.
The reason I'm giving 4 stars however is the quality of grammar and spelling compared to the price. When i buy a book that's more than a couple of dollars i expect it to have been properly edited and even actually published rather than self published. I'm not sure which of these Abbi Glines is but whoever is editing her books needs to do better. Far from the worst I've seen but definitely needs to be better if her books continue to cost $8+
If you dont mind some grammar and spelling mistakes though the quality of storyline is worth the higher price and i recommend reading all of her books

Oh my god!! That ending! Pleasseeeeee can there be another book for Mase and Reese? Pleaseeee! Holy moly.
I loved this book. Another fantastic and quick read. Mase Colt-Manning is the most amazing character. A sexy as hell cowboy, sweet, protective. OMG. Where can I find one. And Reese, pretty strong considering all things she's been through in her life. And Captain. Can't decide if I loved or hated him. He was a great contribution to the book though. I definitely don't like Aida. What a troublemaker. Ugh. The parts with Kiro were great and after having read Kiro's Emily previously at its correct place in this series, it definitely helps when reading this.
This book certainly was an emotional roller coaster. I really don't want to have to wait for the next Rosemary Beach novel :-(
Hurry up Abbi Glines - I need more!
