Product Description

It rained fire the day the Small Gods fled.

A hundred hundred seasons have turned since the Goddess banished the Small Gods to the sky, leaving the land to mankind alone.

For Prince Teryk, life behind the castle walls is boring and uneventful until he stumbles upon an arcane scroll in a long-forgotten chamber. The parchment speaks of Small Gods, the fall of man, and the kingdom's savior—the firstborn child of the rightful king. It's his opportunity to prove himself to his father, the king, and assure his place in history. All he needs to do is find the man from across the sea—a man who can't possibly exist—and save mankind.

But ancient magic has been put in motion by a mysterious cult determined to see the Small Gods reborn. Powerful forces clash, uncaring for the lives of mortals in their struggle to prevent the return of the banished ones, or aid in their rebirth.

Named in a prophecy or not, what chance does a cocky prince who barely understands the task laid before him stand in a battle with the gods?

"Bruce Blake is a heck of a writer."

Steven Montano, Amazon Reviewer

"To say it begins with a bang is an understatement. There is action, fire, death, violence, and betrayal and that is just in the Prologue. The rest of the book gets even better."

Maxine McLister, Amazon Reviewer

"Blake has created a world that is, in a word, mesmerizing. When Shadows Fall pulls the reader in from the first page and won't let go even when it's over. I'm still stuck."

Benjamin X. Wretlind, Amazon Reviewer

"When Shadows Fall is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read. Its characters are memorable: you adore them, you want to strangle them, you cheer them on."

Bekah Terrell, Amazon Reviewer

The First Book of the Small Gods is an explosive dive into an original world full of thrills and uncommon magic. Scroll up and add it to your cart NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars A dark, intense teaser to a strange land 12 February 2015

Where to begin… I had to really think about what to say in this review. There is so much going on in this story I’m not sure 6 books will be enough. The story was so immersive, with each story arc in such a different voice that they could be by different writers. Some characters are seedy and dark, others naive and almost pathetic. And every time I started getting my head wrapped around the story, a new twist or arc would start. Then I hit the end... I know cliffhanger is a dirty word but, well… I need that next book now.

I give this book 5 Platypires!

This story is a work of art, right from the first word written. Bruce Blake weaved an amazing story here were the flow of several storylines ran together. The characters of each storyline flows to a point were the reader can picture them coming together. Two thumbs up for the wonderful effort ppt into this work of art.

You may not want to read this one until the rest of the books in the series are out. All of the several subplots are left completely hanging. He writes very well however only one of the main characters is very likeable or portrayed as having much intelligence or cleverness.

This is not something I would normally read. It is written very well and each change is wonderful. The writer is very talented. If you like these kind of stories you will love this book. I'm sure the next books will be just as well written.
