You are not aloneReviewed in the United States on 18 November 2020
This book touched me. This is a mother's journey to understanding her child's decision to become transgender. Her honesty is overwhelming at times. Her humor is much appreciated. I feel this book is important for parents to read but also children who are transgender would appreciate this book. All parents have challenges they face with their children. It is not always comfortable to be truthful. But Patti Hornstra chooses to be just that. She is real.

Every Parent Can Empathize with this StoryReviewed in the United States on 27 December 2020
The author did an incredible job of weaving the story while navigating the complicated emotions that everyone in the family experienced. I read the book in one sitting as I was mesmerized by the challenges faced by everyone as well as wondering "how would I have reacted" in a similar situation. Kudos to Patti Hornstra for her honesty and transparency in describing her emotions as well as her successes and failings while navigating her complicated relationship with Tristan.
A must read!Reviewed in the United States on 18 March 2021
A deeply emotional journey into the transgender world, told from the perspective of a loving and caring mother. The prose was honest and sometimes raw. I read the story with an open heart and mind and without judgment. After all, it is HER story. Kudos to you, Patti, for having the courage to write a book on a sensitive topic!
Great Read!Reviewed in the United States on 26 January 2021
Patti's story is written from a parent's perspective who makes no apologies for how she feels. It's honest and raw. She doesn't hold back and shares the entire gamut of her emotions. It was a fascinating book.
Brutally honestReviewed in the United States on 6 December 2020
I love the honesty that Patti puts into her writing. I think more people should write books like this that show that life isn’t always picture perfect and that each family goes through difficulties. I’d love to be able to hear things from Tristans side too.
