Why would fate bring them together only to tear them apart?
Lily and Gavin were brought together in a clash of tragedy and chaos. Amid the ashes of lives gone wrong, they thought they found a second chance at love. With trouble from their previous lives lurking around every corner, they quickly learned that love from a star-crossed romance isn’t enough to survive.
Lily has slipped through Gavin’s fingers, and he feels as though he’s been sentenced to an eternity in hell. But if he’s going to perish in the ninth circle, everyone responsible for coming between him and Lily will go down with him.
Perhaps their love was never meant to be. But, if he’s learned anything from his time with Lily, it’s that sometimes everything has to crash and burn before life can begin again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't want it to end 14 July 2015

I’ll admit that I have been putting off writing this review, simply because I’m STILL in book hangover over a week later and I just don’t want to say goodbye to Lily and Gavin. (Especially Gavin…**shakes my head**) I don’t generally just give away five star reviews. You’ve gotta prove it to me. But this whole series held me from the very beginning and would not let me go until the last word. Now I’m in the dreaded book hangover, and still want more. I haven’t been in hangover since I read The Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) series. There are just some characters that pack up their stuff and move into your head when you read a really great book. I guess I will have to resign myself to Lily and Gavin living in my head for awhile - I’m sure Lily and Tyrion will get along just fine (haha)

This is the best trilogy I have forever, I’m having a hard time finding something to compare it to. Matter of fact, I’m tempted to buy it in paperback, just so I can sit it on my shelf.

Spoilers, folks, can’t do this without them:

The hunt is on as this book opens. Gavin is devastated, thinking that the cartel has killed his beloved Lily. He brings all of his vast wealth and influence to bear, calling in friends from his time in the service with one mission: destroy the cartel, burn them down and salt the earth. The group of special ops and black ops commandos are more than capable, and before long they have a plan to move. Then word comes back from the investigation: the body in Gavin’s apartment wasn’t Lily. Then the hunt really begins, because even though the chance is a slim one, there is the chance that Lily is still alive.

I was destroying my fingernails for the first 30% of this book, because while Gavin had no clue that Lily was alive, we the reader had no doubt. When the hitmen from the cartel discovered Lily in the apartment they couldn’t believe their luck - they had carried out the execution (they thought) on their target, and now had a fresh girl to sell on the black market to boot. They locked her up in an abandoned storage facility and began to make arrangements to sell her to the highest bidder. But Lily is tougher than they take her for and she soon turns the tables on her captors. (Great scenes, I was on the edge of my seat!)

This story was fast paced, and funny without being stupid. The characters only occasionally made me want to strangle them, but you gotta have conflict for a story right? (Isla, I’m looking at you - I really wanted to punch you.) Even though Lily managed to get herself out of some very hairy situations she didn’t come off like supergirl or like she was invincible. Her struggle to regain her sense of safety and security was very well done. I could easily see her suffering from a form of PTSD for years to come because of her experiences. And Gavin. Oh my lord, Gavin. He was just perfect. So patient and understanding, so protective. So...together, even though he was falling apart at the thought of losing her. Also, how can you not love a man who drops to his knees at every opportunity? (After all that’s how we know it’s FICTION, right? haha) Seriously, despite Gavin and Lily’s faults - and never fear, they both have them - you love them anyway.

Even with Lily rescued, the couple is soon faced with the ugly truth - the cartel is not going to stop, and they don’t care who they hurt along the way. Some good friends are lost, along with many innocent lives. They proceed with the original plan, along with the help of the FBI, Interpol, the Mafia, and various other outfits. But the cartel has a couple of aces up its sleeve; the leader is someone from Lily’s past, someone who knows her well. Therefore he knows just how to hurt her and draw her out by kidnapping a child she has a connection to. The tension and action ramps up and up to a conclusion that had me shouting at my Kindle.

I have to take a minute to shout out the supporting characters. Em and Max are so well written. I loved seeing how Lily’s “death” changed Em. This author does powerful drama work. I’m having a really hard time believing that this is her debut work(s). Max is spinning even more out of control in this story and just digging the hole he’s made for himself deeper and deeper. I’m really hoping for a sequel that focuses on him. And Em as well, although I’m not sure they should end up together.

This book almost gave me a heart attack there towards the end, but this one happily does not end on a cliffhanger. But it did leave me wishing for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Conclusion to a great series. 6 May 2015

When I first started reading When Fates Collide (book 1), I had no idea the roller coaster I would be taking over three books. I have to admit that I don’t think I’ve ever come across a set of characters with whom I have been so emotionally involved. I have to apologize now – even though this is a review for When Fates Align, it is impossible to do the book justice without considering the other books in the series.
When Fates Align is the third book in the When Fates Collide series and picks up exactly where the second book (When Fate Isn’t Enough) left off. Each book in the series has a unique “emotional” feel for me and that continues to be true in this book. The emotional relationship between Gavin and Lily is smoother and for the first time in the series, I like Lily as much as I do Gavin.
The drama and challenges in this book lean more to the external forces and it was rewarding to see Lily’s character grow and mature as she and Gavin worked together. Secondary characters play a large role in the series and we continue to get to know them, but they add flavor without over shadowing our heroes. Part of me would love to know more about some of the supporting cast, there is wonderful potential for future books with many of them.
Ms. Richards has a writing style that is a little different than I have encountered in the past and she has created a world that pulls you in and makes you want to stay awhile. For a reader that is new to her work, please don’t start with When Fates Align. It is a wonderful work all by itself and could work as a stand-alone novel, but really should be read in order of the series to get the full impact.
*I received an advanced copy of this work. I was not compensated for the review, the opinion is my own.**

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read! 12 May 2015

Wow! What a great series! I was sad when it was over because I didn't want Lilly and Gavin's story to end. This book had so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Once again Lilly proved she wasn't to be messed with and took back her life. If you haven't read this series...what are you waiting for?
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Conclussion to Gavin & Lily!! 14 July 2015

This is the third and final book to Lily and Gavin’s story! After the ending to the last book I couldn’t wait to start this one!! You know how it is with cliffhangers…but this one was so heartbreaking and my heart was pounding from page 1 until the end!! You know how when something bad happens you feel you can’t stop reading until the bad thing has been resolved? Well that’s EXACTLY how I felt during this one!! My emotions were all over the place…

It’s really hard to review this one without giving anything away from the series…but i feel I did a good job…hopefully!! haha

Gavin is having a very, very hard time in the beginning of this one and my heart was breaking for him…seriously wish I could have given him a huge hug!! We get to meet a whole new team of people who are helping Gavin try and take down the drug cartel!!

I turn to Isaac. “Thank you for coming to me with this. If you’ll excuse me, I have to go ruin my best friend’s life.”

So much happens in this book!! I love how devoted to Lily, Gavin is. They have had there ups and downs but it always comes back to their love for each other…it’s so great to see that. Honestly there were times in this series I wanted to slap each of them and tell them to get it together or they were gonna lose the other one over something stupid!!

He turns back around. “Do you love her?”
I push past the lump in my throat to answer him. “More than words could ever begin to describe.”
He smiles. “That’s how. You have to love her more than you hate them.”

If you have read the first two books in this series there is no doubt in my mind that you’ll be reading this one too!!

I kept asking myself a bunch of questions during this one…

Will Gavin and his team be able to take down the drug cartel? Will there ever be a happy ending for Lily and Gavin? Will Max and Em get a HEA (preferably together 😉)?

This whole series is a must read!!! I have to thank Isabelle for giving me the chance to read this!!! Id love to see a book about each of their friends who played a huge role…(Liam, James, Max, Em, etc) get there stories written!!

Can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeve!!

OMG! I think this was fav book out of the series! All loose ends were tied up nicely ooor not so nicely, depending how you want to look at it. You get a BIG shocker right from the beginning (one of those nail biting moments). I loved reading Gavin's POV even though he broke my heart, but I love how he wanted to avenge Lily's Death. Lily has been a strong character & she shows it especially in this last novel that she will not give up. I love her snarky attitude (that should get her killed). It tore me up when I learned who was lost as they were part of my fav characters. Than we meet Gio (related Lorenzo), who helps Gavin, his team & Lily avenge the ones that died & help to end the cartel going after Lily. I love that Lily wants to rescue Arrow (Ash's son with his hooker gf), because it shows a soft side to her that cares. Max's dilemma from book 2, gets brought up front & center but what closes that is his talk with Lily. I love that she has such great friends & people around her. Now that Olivia is gone I had another woman I strongly disliked, Isla. Why? Because she was 1 more person trying to get between Gavin & Lily. Gavin didn't waver not even for a second. Isla was much needed for the team to get the task done. Isla's past is also heart wrenching but instead of overcoming it she let it overtake her. The small moments between Lily & Liam, & Lily & James are very touching! Also when it's just girl talk between Emily & Lily you get to see more of who Emily is what battle she is fighting in herself. Gavin is that flawless gazillionaire British boyfriend we all wish we could land. Rafa who has been after Lily (from the cartel) finally got what was coming to him. It all started when Gavin & Lily met D'anta (from a gang) at a Disneyland character breakfast restaurant, because who would ever expect a meeting like that to happen there?! That was one of my fav scenes in this story. I loved the grave site scene at the end, it was a nice way for Lily to say goodbye to that chapter in her life, & to fully allow herself to move forward in her future with Gavin. The epilogue was perfect ! With Em in her true nature doing what she does best, shopping for nothing but the best! When the empty pages that follow you will not be disappointed.
