*****5- this is ME, Speechless! -Stars*****
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

His tone is soft and comforting as he tries to settle me. I'm sure he thinks that once I'm really awake the nightmare will be gone, but little does he know this nightmare never goes away. This one will last an eternity.

I am completely blown away by this: Elle Michaels' debut, yes -debut- novel. This woman will take you on quite the emotional journey with this story. More than I was even prepared for and it takes a lot to surprise me. But oh what a journey it was- devastatingly gutwrenching, yet beautiful and full of hope. Brooke will steal a piece of your soul and Tyler will permanently burrow his way into your heart, Jenna is the bestie every girl should have and Charlie was cute as a button. But make sure you have a box of tissues handy- you will need them.

It doesn't make you a bad person for wanting to have wild, sweaty, passionate, no-holds-barred sex with your boyfriend. Enough time has passed. It's time to move on.

Brooke has suffered in a way no one should ever have to, in a way you can never fully understand unless you have gone through what she has, and it has changed the person she is. She's broken, emotionally scarred, but determined to get through. In an effort to start over, she moves to California leaving her past behind her and becomes a new woman, in a new town, where no one knows about her past-and she wants to keep it that way. She has made a few friends, two of which become her very best friends -Jenna & Tyler. She can't imagine her life without them, they have helped her in ways they could never understand- but they don't know about the broken mess she hides away underneath her shell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Promising freshman effort 15 July 2014

Brooke has fled to southern California after living through a terrible tragedy that turned her life upside down. She lives by herself; living off money she has from savings and an insurance settlement, and really has only two friends, Tyler and Jenna, both neighbors in the same apartment complex. She suffers from nightmares, constantly replaying the tragedy in her mind and blaming herself, constantly wondering about the “what ifs”. She has left her memories and family behind in Seattle desperate to move on with her life.

Tyler is best friends with Brooke. He too is recovering from wounds, a betrayal by a family member. But as he gets to know her better, he finds himself falling for her. The challenge though is to convince her to give him a chance. To really live her life and find the happiness that she deserves.

Brooke and Tyler make a really cute couple. When they start out there isn’t a whole lot of heat between the two, but as they get to know each other more intimately, things start heating up quickly. Their relationship feels a little immature at times, quickly jumping to conclusions and lacking communication, but for the most part, it is endearing to see them discovering new love, when they thought it could not happen again.

My biggest gripe with the book is that there are a couple of story arcs that are introduced; yet never really developed fully. It seems that there was a lot more story to tell regarding Tyler’s brother. The way that situation was rectified seemed far too quick and tidy and I feel the story could have been a little better developed, which would have given a little more depth to Tyler’s character. I wish we also had a little bit more of the backstory of Brooke’s life with her husband. As she explores her relationship with Tyler, she finds herself questioning the love she ever had for him, and given some of the stories that she had recollected, they guy sounded like a bit of a jerk. The story was novella length so there is quite a bit more that could have been explored and it would have made it an excellent novel.

What Happens Tomorrow is a story of the ability to find happiness out of heartbreak and that moving on doesn’t necessarily mean forgetting those that we have loved and lost. The book is a quick, easy, well-written read. It’s sad, but by the end you’re rooting for Tyler and Brooke, wanting them both to get the HEA they both deserve. This was an excellent debut effort by Ms. Michaels and I look forward to more from her in the future. This is a solid four stars and I would suggest it to anyone that likes friends to lovers or triumph over grief.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stop Crying! 31 July 2014
By Kindle Customer - Published on

Let me start off by telling you what I liked about the book. I liked the hero, Tyler. I liked him, not loved him. He's sweet, kind, caring, generous, understanding, sympathetic, loving, and so in love with the heroine, Brooke. He's what some would say is very sweet, syrupy sweet. So if you're looking for a hero who's a loving, rough, arrogant alpha-male, look elsewhere.

Okay, what bothered me? While I liked the premise of the novel, I thought it was long-winded. The tone of the novel never changed; it remained the same from beginning to end. I kept waiting for something big to happen. I understand that Brooke is "damaged" (how I've come to dislike that word), that she's dealing with a terrible loss; however, all the crying she did - good grief! It was never-ending. Even when she's happy she's balling. It never stopped. I'm not making fun of what people go thru when they lose someone, but she cried ALL THE TIME! As the story progressed, Brooke became needy and boring. The angst that Tyler went thru when he felt betrayed by Brooke was ridiculous. It's as though the author felt she needed to create one just for the sake of it. Throwing in Tyler's brother, Ethan, did nothing for the story. Yes, he betrayed Tyler but seriously, his presence was barely felt. The way Ethan betrayed Tyler is so unforgiveable. But why he did it? Ridiculous and childish. Perhaps it would've worked had there been more character development with both Ethan and Tyler.

Now to all those readers who will most likely think I'm uncaring, not sympathetic or compassionate? I've been known to cry, hell even ball my eyes out when I come across a story that evokes such emotions. But this one? I yawned and rolled my eyes a lot but didn't shed a tear. Oh, and if you're looking for some detailed, hot and passionate sexcapades, again look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, Heartbreaking, Beautiful Debut!!!! 19 May 2014

What Happens Tomorrow is an absolutely beautiful story of second chances! There's so many books out there about second chance romances but this one is different given a second chance leads to perhaps meeting your soul mate.

I have to admit this book started off with me sobbing!!! I was a mess!!!! Brooke suffers an unimaginable loss. Personally, a loss of a magnitude I pray never to suffer. Brooke decided that in order to move forward she had to start over somewhere she doesn't know anyone. This proves to be the BEST thing for her. She finds 2 best friends that truly care about her in Jenna & Tyler. Although, neither are aware of her past. Where she came from. What she had lived through and truly how STRONG of a woman she is. Brooke will have you wanting to hug as well as cheering her on!

Tyler wants to be more than her best friend. Tyler has his own past. One that made my stomach turn. Tyler is the ULTIMATE book boyfriend. A man that wears his heart on his sleeves. He is one of those rare characters these days that's not a player, who wants the whole shebang...a soul-mate, marriage, and babies. SIGH ~ how often do we find a male character who admits that's exactly what he wants. He's realistically gorgeous! I know he is a fictional character but I have to say the author did a fantastic job of not describing AB's of steel, six pack that is so well defined, or went on and on about his personal attributes. No this author DEVELOPED the character by describing his feelings! Oh so refreshing! Is Tyler gorgeous, well heck he sure sounds that way to me. I'm sure I would've licked my lips when I laid eyes on him If I were single and came upon him in my real life but I like to think I have my own personal "Tyler" in my hubby Awww ... sticky sweet :)

When Tyler reveals his "true" feelings to Brooke I really wondered if this is the part where she would runaway as fast as she could since she already had lost so much? Brooke had her trepidations about things and her own personal guilt to battle but in addition to tears I had many big smiles. I felt the journey of Tyler & Brooke's relationship was PERFECT. Again the author made sure that it was paced perfectly. There certainly was some time spent in the bedroom. But it wasn't something that occurred quickly. I think I would've been completely turned off if they "jumped" into things quickly. It wouldn't have been realistic based on the storyline and the characters personalities. I also have to note that there is a scene in this book that the author described via Tyler's voice in such a way you will be swoon and this was just down by words NOT action. It was absolute PERFECTION! The sex scenes were tastefully done and again NOT what this book was about.

Now there's an "incident" in this book that I was stunned and sickened and when things are revealed I was yelling!!!! There are a couple characters that I wanted to kick to the moon while praying they NEVER came back. Oh they gave me the creepy crawlies!!

Brooke's best friend, Jenna, is the type of character that has absolutely NO filter and was downright HYSTERICAL; but she also truly loved Brooke! I would LOVE to see a follow-up book about Jenna & Jasper. Jasper just happens to be Jenna's musician boyfriend who is the lead guitarist in a band. The way Jenna described things between those to I'm totally begging for her story! I'm not proud I'm willing to bow down, send treats, deliver coffee heck anything to have THAT book!!!

What Happens Tomorrow ending was beautiful! I totally loved that this story was told in dual POV's (Tyler & Brooke). I could also kiss the author for the Bonus Scene at the end of the book it wrapped everything I wanted to know up for me and gave me my happy dance that I do once I finish an amazing read!

This was a 5 star emotional read for me. It delivers that punch to the gut, take your breath away crying, no way did THAT just happen moments with a few laughs and by the end had me absolutely giddy! This is Elle's first published book and I will definitely look forward to more from her. The storyline flowed perfectly where I couldn't put the book down and read it in one sitting. It was beautifully written and the character's emotions were communicated in such a way I felt their pain as well as their joy.

As I mentioned before the author took the right amount of time to develop the characters to the point I want to be friends with them. I finished the book and I really did feel like I was leaving some friends behind. I wanted to become embedded in their lives just to follow the rest of their journey.

Highly recommend this heartbreaking emotional read that deals with horrific loss, moving forward with life and a second chance to find, in my opinion, a love that neither Tyler & Brooke had encountered before in their life. Possibly their one true love? Well, that you need to find out for yourself.

I absolutely LOVED that the author also took the time to examine not only how grief affects each person differently; but also what those "left" behind feels for the survivor's. There is a section in this book that beautifully described the feelings of other's (their grief, fears and ultimately their wishes) for what Brooke was going through. Parts of the book absolutely took my breath away and left teary-eyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars - wonderful debut novel 12 November 2014

This book has been on my TBR list for awhile and I just couldn't get to it because of life and previous book commitments. However, I made time a couple of weeks ago and I'm so glad I did. I loved it!

Like the synopsis said, Brooke did suffer an unimaginable loss and for a long time it consumed her. When faced with the choice to move on or forever grieve she chooses to move on. She had a core group of friends that she met after the tragedy that really helped her - even though they didn't even know they were.

One night Tyler, Brooke's friend and neighbor confessed his true feelings for her. She needed to choose if she wanted to take that step. Tyler was so understanding, caring and loving...he's like PERFECT! He's so so sweet to her. We find out that her past relationship wasn't all she remembered it to be and so that made me want Tyler and her to make it even more!

There is of course some drama mixed in that I'll let you read and experience for yourself.

This is Elle's debut novel and I thought she did an excellent job. This book is told in duel points of views and I love it when you get both sides of a story. However, there were a few spots that I felt like things were being retold from the other's POV, instead of just moving the story along. This didn't take away from the story overall and I loved them as a couple. Tyler really is an excellent book boyfriend. I can't wait to read more from Elle. The epilogue and bonus scene is awesome!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivated me from the start! 8 July 2014

4.5 stars.

Have you ever wanted a do over? Someone pissed you off or you had a bad day and just wanted to forget it? Nothing sounds better than waking up tomorrow to start fresh. Well, Brooke needs it now more than ever. She has endured a loss that so many of us cannot even comprehend and then she runs from it. She thinks she’s less of a person because of the grief that has consumed her. And, then what happens when you grieve so hard and long that you put someone on a pedestal who doesn’t actually belong there? Yeah… just wait.

I’m not going to tell you anymore because honestly it’s a book you need to experience. Not read-experience. And you will. You’ll laugh, cry and be pissed off many times.

I love Tyler… like lurve him, lurve him. I’ll take a best friend like that any day. At the end I was left wanting more... so, Ms. Michael's will there be a sequel?
