4.0 out of 5 stars “Tobias, what was that—” A body crumbled on top of her. 8 September 2016
By Grady Harp - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Texas author Anita Philmar has published over twenty books collected by countless readers who admire her ability to create variations on the Western theme with an emphasis on her native Texas. Her plots vary but she always keeps her promise to her readers to make each book steamy with hot erotica.

This book Anita includes in her ‘Historical Western Series’– the story takes place in the 1860s – but there is nothing ‘old-fashioned’ in the way she molds this romantic adventure. She uses today’s comfort with and demand for erotica to enhance her otherwise very atmospheric old Texan tale. Or as Anita describes it, ‘A hot, historical western stand-alone story with a satisfying HEA.’

But on to the story synopsis - With no ties to Texas, Dixy secures a ride to the next town on her way out of the state. The driver, Tobias Poe offers to let her rest. While she’s in the back, he is shot. Rushing to save him, she arrives in Naked Bluff, Texas. The town’s doctor, Nathaniel Murphy can’t save him, but he can save her? Penniless, alone, and now a murder suspect, Dixy has no alternative but to accept his help. Can this couple build a future together? Or will a killer silence her forever? ‘

Toss in some quick overture encounters and finish with a symphony of hot steamy erotica and you have a satisfying short read that is one stimulating story! Anita Philmar knows her Texas, her men (she grew up in a house full of men), and the technique of painting erotica – the ingredients that make this COUNTRY DOCTOR’S BRIDE a satisfying diversion. 4.0 out of 5 stars The country doctor's slice of heaven! 10 September 2016
By Patti Hays - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I believe this writer has a wonderfully entertaining view of life in the historical west. People weren't always paired by love but rather by necessity. And this doctor and his new bride definitely heated up the old west. I am not really a fan of erotic romance however reading it once in awhile doesn't bother me. This book totally would be or should be on an erotic fantasy lovers must read list. The storyline flowed smoothly and made this book really easy to read. A very entertaining way to pass a few hours! 5.0 out of 5 stars we get some historical information worked into the story about good old Texas 19 September 2016
By JA Armstrong - Published on Amazon.com

What a hot and steamy romance! This book is set in the 1800’s and along with the romance and story line, we get some historical information worked into the story about good old Texas. This is not your typical romance where the characters wed for love, but rather, circumstances throw them together and they try to make the best of things. Lucky for Dixy, the local Doctor who rushes to her aid as she comes into the town of Naked Bluff with a dying man at her side is no uncouth man and more than willing to help Dixy who then becomes a murder suspect.
Pacing of the story was great, the author knew exactly when to slow down and when to speed things up and she had great editing as I was unable to find any grammatical errors. Although, in a short romantic story, you don’t normally look for those things, they can jar you out of a steamy session and ruin the story, so great job!
4.0 out of 5 stars I found a few grammar issues that were pretty minor but overall 20 September 2016

Western Historical: The Country Doctor's Bride by Anita Philmar is The Cowboys of Naked Bluff, Texas series Book 6. Now while I haven't read the other five, I gave this a try.
This is a historical western set in the 1860s and revolves around Dixy, who is riding with a driver who is shot. She meets the town doctor, Nathaniel Murphy who may just be her saving grace seeing as she is now the murder suspect, has no money, and may just be on the hit list herself.
I found a few grammar issues that were pretty minor but overall, I thought it was a well-written story and quite an interesting read. It has a lot of the old west flavor to it and the characters are well-fleshed out so that makes a huge difference in the how well I liked the book and like it, I did.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, needs a little work 27 September 2016

I read this as part of a Ku challenge. I enjoyed the fact that The Country Doctor's Bride is based in the Old West and the way the story is written. The only issue I have is the mistakes I seen. .it irritates a pet peeve of mine when I come across mistakes as often as I did in this book. If it has a extensive edit done to fix wording mistakes, then this would be a 5 star book in my opinion.
