Weather the Storm (Southern Roots) Kindle Edition
Desperate to escape his wrath—and his fists—she flees in the dark of night. Seeking safety and shelter with the only family she has left, Magnolia finds herself in the sleepy, Southern town of Dogwood—and in the arms of Simon McAllister.
Simon has always been more of a thinker than a doer. That changes the minute he meets shy and mysterious Magnolia. She has him rushing into action, ready and willing to do whatever it takes to earn her trust.
Slowly, with his steadfast determination and kind heart, Simon brings Magnolia out of her shell. But just as things start heating up between the two of them, the darkness of Magnolia’s past resurfaces, threatening to rip apart everything they’ve worked so hard for.
With their future hanging in the balance, Simon fears he’s losing Magnolia. Now, he must convince her that, together, they can weather the storm.

This romance was absolutely heartbreaking at times, when the extent of Magnolia’s past was finally revealed I felt sick to my stomach upon reading what she had been through. And her inner dialogue that she constantly had to fight - I loved the authenticity and genuineness of it and that the author didn’t make solving Magnolia’s issues something easy!! And Simon - his background was just as shocking and I liked that this gave him a real personal connection to Magnolia even if it was for terrible reasons. And Simon’s protectiveness was so very swoon worthy and made me fall for him that much more 😍😍
Kate (author LK Farlow) has come such a long way with her writing since her debut novel and it shows!! Weather the Storm is her best work yet and I can only see good things in her future. I’m more than looking forward to whatever Kate writes next and I’m so glad she’s one of my must read, one click authors.
Simon is a protective giant of a man with a heart of marshmallow when it comes to Magnolia his pretty girl. Her past marriage has left physical and mental scars that run deep.
Magnolia has been gutted by a horrible ex. Her confidence is low and she can’t believe the lovely teacher Simon isn’t going away. When her ex tracks her down and her life is in danger she doesn’t know if she will survive.
Beautifully written characters and a stand-alone read you can get through in one day.
I received an ARC of this book.
The two main characters are written with such strength yet such vulnerability.
I really loved this book, such a fantastic end to the set of stories L.K.Farlow has shared.
Simon and Magnolias story was captivating, beautiful and incredible. the few twist were great was not expecting them at all. I loved that Simon was just as sweet and amazing as Cash and Drake. The Southern Roots series are must reads. Every chapter has you captivated and intrigued leaving you wanting more.

I can't begin to tell you how much I adore Simon. He's all that and a bag of chips. Seriously. A southern gentlemen that stays by Mags side when times are hard and stands up for her when necessary but still knows when she needs him to take a step back and give her space.
The end of An Uphill Battle set us up for the beginning of Weather the Storm and the wait to see what would happen to Magnolia pretty much KILLED me, but Lord have mercy it was so worth it! (PS You don't need to read the other two to read this one) The intensity of the beginning of this story really set the tone for the entire story and kept me hooked and engaged from the get go.
The element that really sealed the deal for me in Weather the Storm was a third point of view that was thrown in. Reading this perspective just added a level of depth and angst to the story. The sense of dread that this point of view gave us had me freaking out a little bit on the inside, I was scared for Mags and just hoped that Simon would be there to protect her.
I really enjoyed watching Magnolia grow in strength and confidence as she built a relationship with Simon. Seeing her come into her own from the meek scared girl we first met to the powerful and confident woman she became.
Weather the Storm is a must read friends to lovers romance that I can't recommend more. The chemistry is off the freaking charts and the sexual tension is just simmering under the surface waiting to break free.
The author has managed to write another book that drew me in since moment one. I was so excited to finally get Magnolia and Simon’s story, I ached for them because of the bits of slowburn between these two in the previous books of the Southern Roots series.
This has been the most emotional book of the series and the one that has warmed my heart the most. But truly, it warmed all of me. It captivated me and the story itself was really touching. Things between Simon and Magnolia aren’t easy because of how Magnolia’s soul has been crushed in the past, she has to overcome so many insecurities and fears. And she still has to deal with the past she left behind. But Simon is so sweet to her, always supporting her and trying to make her feel comfortable and that she belongs. Reminding her of her qualities and how much wanted her in his life. He is patient, and caring. He is such a dreamy guy. I swooned hard for him. I, as Magnolia, fell for him hard and quick, because with a man like that, it doesn’t take long. Not when he strives for what he truly wants. He respects her so much and is always putting her first.
I loved how real Magnolias growing was portrayed in the story. Her character has gone through so much and has still a few ghosts to deal with. Reading about her slowly blossoming, is beautiful.
Sweet and heartfelt.
Now while I enjoyed Simon and Magnolia's story I did feel like I was rushed through the last half of it. Things moved fast, and with Magnoloa's past I felt like it was too much too soon. On top of that, Magnolia had a prominent stutter throughout the entire story. The stuttering made it distracting to read, interrupting the flow of the story. The lack of explanation left me confused as to why she stuttered so much and it was so prominent. I found myself focusing more on why she was stuttering than I did focusing on what was happening in their story.
Overall the romance was a sweet instalove. The characters made for an adorable couple with strong friendships.
Magnolia was on the run. Her plan was to be invisible, but that was impossible once she met Simon. He seemed to be there every time she needed a friend but would he be too good to be true when he learned her secrets?
Simon knew Magnolia had been hurt, but not to what extent. He took his time to get to know her and earn her trust. Just as he was able to get her to open up, her past came back to claim her. Would Simon be able to keep her safe or would trouble find her first?
Those two were so great together! I am so happy Magnolia found her “one” and had so many people in her corner. The entire series was the perfect example of sexy southern gentlemen!
These two have spent a significant amount of time together because of their friends and while there may have been an attraction there neither of them acted on it. Magnolia certainly didn't given her past and Simon didn't want to cross the proverbial line, but due to some circumstances that bring these two together spending a whole bunch of time together, things change.
I loved everything about this book and their journey to love. Simon is a man that is alpha but in a more reserved kind of way...until Magnolia's life may be in danger. Seeing Magnolia blossom under his care and love made my heart smile because prior to this it hurt so much. This woman has strength she doesn't even realize she has until Simon niggles his way into her heart showing her how strong and beautiful she is inside and out. This is a perfect third book in this series bringing everyone full circle.
