The stunning continuation in the bestselling Story of Us series from New York Times bestselling author Cassia Leo.

Live the truth...

The truth about Hallie has torn Houston and Rory apart for a second time. Houston is finally unburdened of the secret his sister confided in him, but now he must deal with the aftermath.

He has vowed to set things right for Rory, and he's determined to get her back. But the destruction left in the wake of Hallie's letter is not the only obstacle he must face. Houston must find a way to win Rory back by showing her their story isn't over yet.

...or live the lie.

In her desperation to move past the anguish of Hallie's secret and Houston’s lies, Rory seeks solace in Liam. When Liam is transferred to another tech company in California, Rory jumps at his invitation to leave Portland, and her broken heart, behind. In California, Rory finds a friend who opens new doors for her in the literary world. But does this new friend have ulterior motives?

Another book by Cassia I fell in love with. Her characters are always so real. I love that they have more than one dimension. She manages to tackle some big topics with such grace.
The journey is amazing as we continue on with Houston, Rory, Kenny, and Liam. Parts will leave you angry or laughing. Sometimes everything is not as it appears on the surface. Often we need to take big risks, like moving 600 miles to achieve our goals. Moving in with someone we hardly know. Sometimes we are surprised where the help is actually comes from when we learn the truth.
Can't wait to see how their story ends in The Way We Rise

This book had me in tears. Rory finally understand why Houston ended their relationship. Not being able to cope with all the lies and betrayal by people who are supposed to love her, she runs away and gets caught up in something that ends up being totally wrong for her. I did not get a good vibe from Liam's character from the start, as I just wanted Houston to be her one and only. I also fell a little more for Rory and Houston. Tragedy seems to touch them at every turn, and it seems they will never get their HEA. Another fabulous, nail biting instalment of a great series.

OMG! The Way We Break was freakin amazeballs, it was such a good follow up to The Way We Fall. You get a bit more back story of each of the characters and you fall in love with each of them a little more. I still love the character of Hallie and her poor tortured soul. Rory is just as beautiful, Houston is just as swoon worthy and Liam, well let's just say he disappointed me in this one.
I cannot wait for book three

The second installment in the series is no less gripping than the first. My favorite scene is when Houston finds an unlikely ally to get Rory back. This gets better and better. It seems that the universe has been conspiring against Rory. Just makes me want to jump into the last installment for the conclusion of her story. Loving this series!

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok 14 January 2016

If you read the first part, "The way we fall", you're going to want to read the second part even the reviews say it wasn't as good as the first book. The thing is, there is a third book that finishes the story so if you're not that committed to the story after the first part, I wouldn't recommend continuing, as this second book just drags on without developing much of the relationship except creating (at least in me) a dislike for Rory, which I didn't feel in the first book , as she handles things in a childish immature way.
(Spoilers ahead.) I disliked the way this book turns Liam into a psycho when in the first book, he was a nice mature person who was understanding of the situation between Houston and Rory. I wonder why the author chose to make both exes (Tessa and Liam) mentally unstable. One mentally unstable character in a story suffices, in my opinion. It sounds like the author is scrambling for a way to justify Rory dumping Liam for Houston, but the reality is that Rory shouldn't have jumped into a relationship with Liam while still in love with Houston no matter how confused or messed up she felt. She made a mistake and the author could have handled that mistake better by having Rory open up to Liam and tell him she was still in love with her ex, but no, instead we have to read about how a perfectly nice character suddenly turns into a violent unstable man. Not cool!
In any case, I will read the third part just to know how things end, though I'm not satisfied with how the author has continued the story so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars 14 February 2016

3.5 stars, being a middle book is so hard.

Rory and Houston. Houston and Rory. Once again, they're torn apart by Houston's sister, Hallie. Hallie committed suicide and the truth of why has finally come out, but Rory and Houston can hardly handle it, let alone handle everything else happening in their lives. Suddenly family is involved, their parents, their friends, and Houston's wife. Rory uses the big explosion from book one, [spoilers removed], to make a quick decision to go with Liam to California. Liam was the gentle, handsome, lumberjack of a man that stood by as Rory's friend as she tried to figure out what she wanted. California is not just sunny and golden however, there's jealousy, a book to finally complete, and Houston working behind the scenes to help Rory out. Liam is not all he seems to be and Rory may find that listening to her heart is better than listening to her head.

If you think you know what is coming in this book, you don't. Cassia Leo has done it again with even more twists you wouldn't expect, both the good and bad kind of twists. The characters are even better in The Way We Break, the relationships are more believable, the tones of voices different, and they all have such a specific role in the plot you wouldn't believe any are considered secondary. Rory has grown in leaps and bounds since book one, her thought process is different, her reactions make more sense, and the way she carries herself, even with indecision on her mind, is so much more realistic. I really rooted for Rory in this one, I didn't like Liam at all at first, but I wanted Rory happy. Of course, Liam is a jerk, Rory isn't happy, and Houston gets to be a hero. I loved watching the progress of the book, the relationship between Hannah and Rory as authors, and the blooming friendship between Patricia, Kenny, and Houston was so cute. Yes, cute.

Unfortunately, middle books are just hard to make the best. They're stuck between an awesome first book and the knowledge that all the answers are found in the third. Cassia Leo did an excellent job of wrapping up plot holes from The Way We Fall in The Way We Break and introduced new plot lines. Unfortunately, some of the unbelievable stuff that happens seems too good to be true, or too bad to be true. Liam's change is the most drastic, and while believable in book two, I couldn't see him being like this in The Way We Fall. The relationship between Rory and Liam was the hardest for me, even before the twist. Rory doesn't seem to like Liam much, except when they have sex, and even then she's comparing. I know she made a split second decision to move to California, but it doesn't seem like she committed to it more than used it as a way to run away. The jumping around in this book was still difficult at points, especially in two different locations now.

Overall, The Way We Break was a good connection between book one and book three. The new plot will hold you in, because it answers a lot from book one, but not everything. You'll root for Rory and Houston and you'll root for Houston the most, he's been through so much.
5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Love 27 June 2017

This was just as good as the first book! Rory is way confused about everything in her life that was spinning in disaster. Instead of working on her problems she takes the easy way out and runs away with Liam, whom she barely knows, leaving everyone behind she loves. Will moving to California be a perfect life with the Lumberjack? Looks like a recipe for disaster, because the past always seems to catch up to her. Her love for Houston and writing a book about their relationship, trying to find a relationship with Liam, and leaving her best friend to live in her apartment. She will have to face the consequences of her actions with the hope she won't get an "I told you so" from her Mom. Read this book to get all the juicy details.

“Code Blue. Code Blue. First Floor. Room I-1-5-3.
Repeat. Code Blue. First Floor. Room I-1-5-3.”

This happens to be the LAST line in The Way We Break. Talk about a cliffhanger! Yeah – I’m totally anxious and ready for August 21 to hurry up so I can make sure I buy The Way We Rise when it comes out!

I thought I might know where Cassia was going with this book, but I was totally wrong. The Way We Break is the second book in The Story of Us series, and it was amazing! (You can read my review of The Way We Fall here).

Superb book, awesome story line, Totally loveable characters!

We met Rory, Houston and Liam, along with Rory’s best friend, Kenny, who is gay and I could totally see myself being friends with, in The Way We Fall. As much as I liked that book, I totally think I liked The Way We Break even better! We got to know more about the characters.

Just FYI – I’m #TeamHouston because he’s totally hot & the sex between him & Rory is amazing.

I experienced laughter, tears, screams all in this book. I started it after we left my brothers apartment, which is 3 hours 16 minutes from where we live, and I finished this book last night, around 8 pm. There were times I giggled out loud and I could just feel my husband glancing over at me. He kept asking, “Good book?” I said “Yeah! It’s amazing!” And it was! 100%

If you’re looking for a new book to read, I would HIGHLY recommend this book!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great continuation of this Rory and Houston 19 February 2016

The continuation of The story of us...Rory and Houston no longer have the lies between them, but Rory is feeling so many things that she is not talking to Houston. He has vowed to get her back, he knows their love for each other is still there. In all of this Liam and Rory have gotten closer and dating more seriously. Rory moves with Liam to California. Rory's still writing her and Houston's story and befriends a woman who is also a writer. With her new friend helping her writing career! This 2nd book gets more into their story of Rory and Houston, we see Rory grow up some and we see those that love Rory try to let her find her way on her own. This is a must read in The Story of us....I loved seeing Rory grow and her loved ones step back and let her find her way.
