“Not everyone you love is going to leave you…but what if they do?”

For Nate Lucas, this was his reality.

When he lost her, he was left with no choice. Life was impossible in Crawley without her. He couldn’t live with all of the memories or her ghost.

He vowed to never return again.

It was business that brought him back and the chance to right a wrong, but then she needed him; his best friend’s little sister. Her life and her child’s were in danger.

It was an arrangement until it became more.

He vowed to never love again; to never allow the past a chance to repeat itself, but sometimes you’re left with no choice.

When the walls around your heart are finally breached, do you run and save yourself or stay and fight for the chance to love again?

When you lose your way, how do you find the way home?

5.0 out of 5 stars He has one girl who loves him and he loves her like she is the air he breaths 26 April 2016
By Itsy Bitsy Book Bits - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
A Must Read!!!
Nate Lucas is alone and has been since he was left by his druggy parents when he was a child. The only person he has is his Gran and she loves him and raises him to be decent, but when everybody in town knows you come from the other side of the tracks you are just not looked at or treated the same. He has one girl who loves him and he loves her like she is the air he breaths. Why does everyone he loves leave him? How is he supposed to go on without her? Everywhere he is, she is there too. Life became impossible in the town where they grew up. The memories followed him every step he took and she was all he could think about. The only way to stay sane was to leave town and never come back to Crawley again.  His vow is to never come back or never love again!
It was business that brings Nate back to the one place he vowed to never return. He has decided it’s time to right a wrong. His heart is covered in ice and Nate swears to never love again. He will never take the chance of history repeating itself. He is closed off to love and relationships of any kind but his best friend’s little sister is in trouble and keeping her and her daughter safe is the only decent thing to do.  They had an arrangement that was working until she and her daughter started melting the ice around his heart. Nate was so scared that all he wanted was to run fast and hard and not look back, but Miley was getting under his skin and so was her daughter. He knows that running will only send him backward and he won’t be a coward. Will Nate survive this and will Miley break through to his heart?
I really like this book. Linda Oaks has written a good read that I would highly recommend. I love it when I read a book that sucks you in and doesn’t let go till the last page and you still want more. Thank you for sharing your writing talents with us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is there life after Natalie? This is a complete story—AND I LOVED IT. 14 April 2016
By cheri - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book stands alone. Third in the series the other characters are referred to and even show up, however make no mistake this is a complete story—AND I LOVED IT. Returning to his home town, Nate wonders if there is life after Natalie--his love in high school who died before she could even tell him she was pregnant. Years later he returns to buy back his home where his grandmother raised him and try to start a new life. However that life would never include a woman who could tear his barely patched heart apart again.

Until Miley—and of course little Sierra. Now he had a new battle—no longer just trying to survive, now he had to keep them from creeping in that black hole in the middle of his chest. But they weren't safe. He'd spent his life after Natalie bringing in bad guys who hurt good people. There was a real bad guy after Miley and neither of them were safe. How was he supposed to keep his heart safe with a woman so beautiful inside and out that it hurt just to look at her? And that little mite was a creeper—a creeper of the heart. Both of them were feisty and tempted him to tease just to work them up—then working up Miley in other ways was more than he could control.

He vowed to keep them safe until the man after them was caught. How was he supposed to protect them and his heart with them staying with him, the only way he knew to keep them safe.

I love watching Nate return to life, fight back his demons with the memories of his Gran and the two females worthy of him despite Nate's worries and her fear of her reputation and the man after her. They are worthy of each other and so good together. It is a tough road and you will love reading their story.

A strong recommend.

*I received an ARC from Love Affair With Fiction in exchange for an honest review*

Thank you so much Love Affair With Fiction for sending me an ARC of The Way Home! I’m very honored and grateful!!:)

This book was beyond beautiful and really makes the reader realize life is too short to not live as well as love. Ms. Oaks takes two characters that had harsh life’s and intertwined their worlds to create a story that is filled with so much hope it will stick with me for years to come. It was real and showed the true anguish of those who had lost people they held close to their hearts. The story really hit my heart and left me with many tears. It’s really hard to slow down sometimes in our lives to step back and take a breather. The importance of living really shines through during the whole story. It makes me so happy to come across books that strengthen me with every single turn of the page and build me up with such outstanding words.

Nate Lucas was a character that i couldn’t fully grasp how i honestly felt about him at first but as the story progressed i became more connected with him. He was kind of an intimidating guy and not one to engage in conversation unless he absolutely had to. It broke my heart that because of his past he never wanted to let anyone in and the way he he sank in his misery daily was hard to read about. I just wanted to reach into the book and hug him as well as tell him everything will get better. Nate became such a sweetheart but at the same time he was all alpha male which made me love him as a character. His relationship with Miley proved to be something that he needed tremendously. The way he treated Sierra left my heart all warm and fuzzy.

Miley Triton was a character that was fierce but had a past that still haunted her. She was very kind but could tell you off if you crossed her in some way. I liked that she was strong after everything that she had been through in her life and wanted nothing more than to make sure Nate realized he deserved happiness. Miley was a wonderful Mom to her daughter Sierra and it cracked me up how much alike the two were. It ticked me off what some people said about her in the story. She could have given up and thrown in the towel after everything she endured but she didn’t and that made me have a lot of respect for her as a character. The way she build others up instead of tearing them down was something inspiring to read.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a story that gives a whole new meaning to the phrase learning to live again and how opening your heart may be scary but worth it. If you haven’t already read this book what are you waiting for?!?! Go one-click this amazing story right now! I hope it touches your heart as much as it did mine! 5 Stars all around!!:)
