On the Way to the Cabin is my first book by this author. It is a very short, sweet, friends-to-lovers romance between two childhood friends who have always been in love with each other. A near tragic event happens when they are teenagers and a lack of communication keeps Aaron and Lena from becoming more than friends. A traditional, yearly trip to Aaron's family's cabin finds both Aaron and Lena riding together to the cabin during a blizzard. They have to make unplanned stops because of the treacherous road conditions. It is during these stops that this couple finally talk about their current feelings and the past.
Despite this book is very short and takes place over a twenty-four time frame, I found the author did a pretty good job at adding depth and emotion while engaging me in the story. Both characters were likable and mature. Both adored the other and I felt that was believable. So if you find yourself in the mood for a short, sweet story that you can read in a couple of hours, this is a good one for that.
As I mentioned, this is my first time reading anything by this author and I would like to read something else from her with a longer length.
I came across this book during a recent FREE promotion. This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it.
“He was no mind-reader. But he liked to think that after knowing her for twenty-some years, and secretly adoring her for damn near most of that time, that he could at least read her well.”
